  • Miss White- Can We Please Dissect Frogs?

    Funded Oct 25, 2011

This is only a small token of my appreciation for the wonderful opportunity you have allowed me to share with my students. Yesterday in class we had our frog dissection lab and my students were absolutely engaged and excited about learning! The lab was an excellent addition to the human body unit that we have been learning about.

Without your help and donations, I would have never been able to complete this lab with my students. I have seen their interest in science peak and am excited to be their teacher at this formative time.

Thank you again for your interest in my classroom and my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White-Clark

  • Embracing Science Through Hands-On Discovery and Exploration

    Funded Dec 3, 2011

I want to send my sincere thanks for your kind contributions to education. I am ever so grateful for your time and money, as it allowed my students to have hands-on science materials for the classroom. So far, we have used the electricity, astronomy, and properties of earth tubs. The kids were especially excited to experiment with electricity and see how circuits work. It's always amazing how much more information they regain when using interactive tools.

In a time when education budgets are tighter than every, it's the generosity of people like you hat allow our students to have a rich and interactive learning experience that means so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Melter

  • In Need of Microscopes!

    Funded Oct 23, 2011

I cannot fully express how much your generosity has impacted my classroom. The microscopes that you purchased for my students have helped them understand science in a whole new light. We have already completed two different dissection projects; dear hearts and cow eyes, both of which have helped my students learn about the biology of different organisms with real, up-close experiences.

Last summer our school was hit by a devastating tornado, and it has been difficult to rebound, both emotionally and financially. Your generosity has helped bring the focus back to academics and away from the difficult recovery of the school. Your donations and kind words show my students that even though they live in a neighborhood that is often ignored, that there are still people who value their education.

Thanks to you, the budding scientists in my classroom may be the next Nobel prize winners! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wydeven

  • Traveling the World Through Classroom Exploration

    Funded Oct 20, 2011

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The numerous animals and terrariums you donated have turned my science classroom into a science "exploratorium". Students are eager to take care of the animals and monitor their mini-ecosystems daily. I never would have thought that students would willingly fill out data sheets on humidity, temperature and feeding, yet my students beg me to give them those jobs.

In addition to increased eagerness to come to class, I have seen an impact on my students' understanding and curiosity of the world around them. Students are frequently asking me questions about how camouflage works, why some animals sleep during the day but not at night, and why some fish glow in the dark. We have had in-depth class discussions of ecosystem interactions, animal behavior, and genetics. I have also have students start talking about seeing the world and exploring nature. Before, most students wanted to be basketball or football players. Now, students have goals to become scientists, archaeologists, and explorers.

Your support has been so meaningful for myself and for my students. Together, we can lead our students to accomplish their goals, and to continue setting greater and greater goals. Together, we can change our students' lives and their futures. Thank you so much for your dedication to this mission.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. O'Neil

  • Build Science Skills for All Students

    Funded Nov 16, 2011

I would like to sincerely Thank You for thank you for your generous contributions to my project. My students are very eager and enthusiastic at being able to use the science equipment and materials. They want to be 'like real scientist' and be able to experience the lab setting with more than just make-shift things.

With your assistance, my students will be able to take part in inquiry activities that open the door to understanding and achieving a much higher levels. With luck, many will be inspired to go on to the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics fields.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Molina-Alvarez

  • Looking At The Micro World Around Us

    Funded Oct 27, 2011

I can not even begin to tell you how much i appreciate your donation to my project. This project was a huge success, thanks to your help. Upon getting the materials, I was so eager to show off this amazing view of the microscopic world around us to my students. My students were stunned. Many of them had never seen a microscope, let alone use one. The slides that were provided helped utilize this important tool and provided an amazing experience that I am sure they will never forget. These slides proved to be a valuable tool and captivated the interest of my students. I originally planned on only using the slides for two days, but I found that the students craved more time to experience these slides and I had to alter my plans and extend the slides to be included in an entire week of lessons.

Once again, I want to extend my thanks and my highest gratitude for your donation. I can not even begin to fully express how I feel and the excitement and joy you brought to my students by providing the supplies for this valuable learning experience. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Petriccione

  • 7th Graders See a Whole New World

    Funded Nov 20, 2011

Thank you, thank you, thank you! As you can see I cannot say thank you enough. With the budget cuts we have had the last few years, it is almost impossible to provide a good education for our children. Despite the fact that we live within an hour of the two biggest national labs, the students in this area do not have access to high tech items that they may learn from. I am hoping that these rockets will raise all of my students enthusiasm for my science class and who knows it may raise one literally to the stars. Thank you again so much for your help.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Horton

  • Pre-K Science: Butterflies and The Life Cycle

    Funded Oct 24, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Pre-Kindergarten program. With your donations we were able to purchase some certificates to get sets of 5 caterpillars for each Pre-K class. I am sorry for the delay of the thank you notes but we had to wait until February to order the caterpillars.

The children were so thrilled to watch the caterpillars grow, change into a cocoon and then come out of the cocoon as a butterfly. After a few days we released the butterflies outside.

This has been an awesome experience for the children. They were able to see the changes in real time, they read about the life cycles and drew pictures of the butterflies and the life cycle of butterflies.

Thank you again for helping these children to have a wonderful Pre-Kindergarten experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. John

  • Wow! The North Park Nature Center

    Funded Oct 4, 2011

We just returned from the field trip to the North Park Nature to see the tapping of the Maple trees. We had a marvelous time walking along the trails to the Maple trees. As we walked, we saw five deer, many squirrels and a few raccoons. We also spotted bird's nest, bees and milkweed pods.

When we arrived near the Maple tree our guide explained the procedure of Maple tapping. All students received a turn drilling the drill and tasting the watery sap. When we returned to the Nature Center Shack, we tasted popcorn with Maple Syrup drizzled on top.

This was the best field trip that I have ever experienced. Thank you for your generous contribution. This class will talk about the tapping of the Maple trees for years to come.”

  • Calling All Urban Farmers!

    Funded Nov 28, 2011

We need to begin teaching our children where their food comes from and why it is necessary to incorporate healthy fruits and vegetables into their diets. This is one of the first lessons that we need to teach students, in order to help them make healthy food choices now and in the future. Thanks to your generous donation of a garden, I can teach my class about growing organic fruits and vegetables and how to make healthy food choices. Students will also learn how to take care of living organisms and why it is important to take care of our earth and bodies.

I wish that you could have seen the excitement in the eyes of my students as they examined and planted seeds in our classroom garden. They all loved feeling the dirt between their fingers and said that they could not wait for the seeds to grow. Once our seeds grow, we will measure our plants and eventually eat the fruits of our labor!

    Thanks again for your generosity.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schneider
