Please please please give to these worthy causes. We need an educated populace and that starts with teaching kids effectively. Help these kids so they can become intelligent successful members of society, and not resort to robbing me.
I would like to say thank you again for your support of my students. They had such a rewarding experience being able to put into practice a technique that we have only been able to talk about and see final results of. They were so excited to have an active role in the process. I saw much higher grades and student participation for this particular unit this year.
It is always a rewarding moment as a teacher to see students interested in the information for my class. It is so hard sometimes to spark their interest if it is not something that they see impacting their immediate future. Most of my students enjoy the CSI type shows and thought it was a fun experience to be able to "solve a crime" using DNA and gel electrophoresis.
Thank you again so much for your support. I hope you are encouraged to continue to give to other students in the same generous manner that you gave to mine. Words cannot express how grateful I am. Thank you.”
Thank you all for funding this project and providing my students with the DNA model kits.
All of my students are English Language Learners (ELL's) and as such, they learn best by doing. Having access the hands-on learning tools like the model kits helps my students better understand the complex concepts in science. They are able to see how the structures fit together and can be arranged in many different ways- thus leading to the diversity of genes and traits.
Thank you all for actively supporting my students in their quest for knowledge, and for supporting public education in New York City.”
Thank you for your generosity in providing money for me to buy DNA models from Carolina Biological Supply. It has truly helped my students understand the structure of DNA and its shape. It also gives them a complete experience with DNA structure by having them engaged in building the model first before they work with real DNA doing gel electrophoresis. I will be able to use these models with all of my students in my biology classes in grades nine through twelve.
By building the 3D Models of DNA it helped clarify the base-pairing rules exhibited by the DNA model as well as its anti-parallel structure and sugar phosphate backbone. It definitely made it more exciting for my students to build the models rather than simply look at pictures of DNA in textbooks or on PowerPoint slides.
I am truly grateful that you were able to fund this project for my students, especially since I will have the models for years to come since they are not consumable items good for only one school year. Thank you again for supporting my classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mr. F.
