Since receiving our camcorder, our class has decided to complete a news broadcast based on a book we have read. Students have been working diligently on compiling facts and writing their pieces in order to record their presentations. You have made teaching the writing process and use of text features an exciting. My students no longer trudge to their desks or socialize during writing time, rather I see productive group work and educational conversations and students decide how they would like their pieces compiled. My students are motivated by the prize of not only being able to record themselves but ultimately being able to compile their videos to create their own broadcast. This project would not have been possible if it were not for your kind hearts and willing spirits. ”

Today was a wonderful day for me! As my last class of the day left my classroom, the custodian entered, bringing with her a new set of hand bells that had been delivered! I am so excited about having this resource to use with students as we study music.

I have taught hand bells before with high school aged students and often thought it would be a wonderful experience to share with those who are just beginning to read music. These bells will go right into the hand of eager to learn students tomorrow!

Your generosity has provided my students with a new instrument to learn and create memories with. I can only hope that one day in their future when they hear a specific song, it will take them back to their elementary days and the joy of learning. I cannot possibly express to you my gratitude for your donation! Beginning a Marching Band at my school has been a long time goal of mine and my principals. But I knew that in order to make our dream happen we would need to find funding for drums! And thanks to you, our dream is one step closer to coming true.

Our district, like many others, is facing a budget shortfall, so without your help my students would never have had this great addition! I cannot tell you how excited they are to begin learning to play and march at the same time! Every nice day, they beg me to go outside to march more-even in all the snow!! Their dream is to be just as good as the drum line in the movie, Drumline!

Thank you all so much for your generosity in funding this project. The kids are very excited about the new scissors. We will be making paper mosaics and collages in our "Paper Unit" next week. New supplies always make art class more fun.

I will post pictures of the kids working on their projects with the new scissors. I have been using the new paper cutter a lot too. I was able to find a good deal on larger paper and now it's easy to cut it to the standard (9"x12") size for drawing paper. I truly appreciate your support!”

This is definintly just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The materials you helped purchase are being used everyday! My class has been singing their way through several subjects including math, spelling, and reading. I do believe the materials purchased have greatly enhanced my units and even increased grades. My entire class has achieved over 100% perfect spelling tests the last couple weeks in a row!!

The speakers are also wonderful! I have not had a single child complain of being unable to hear their reading stories that we listen to orally at the beginning of each week. Teachers from other classrooms continue to stop in to see what all the excitement is about when they hear our kids singing and listening to music all while learning at the same time!

Our school has had to make several budget cuts and because of donors like you, our classroom has not had to go without resources I feel are important in a good education. I know music has enhanced our class in many ways.

Eight fifth graders are now learning how to read and play music with classical guitars. A few of them are going to get a chance to accompany their classmates in a music class concert. We are currently learning how to play chords and strum rhythms, so we are able to play several songs. We have started having lessons Tuesday after school because there was just too much to get done during the lunch period.

My students are doing fantastic and they can't wait until Tuesday lessons. Thank you so much for giving them this opportunity.”
