Attention Florida science education supporters: here's your chance to share your love of all things science! Support our teachers right here in the Sunshine State who want to foster a love for science in their students. Florida Citizens for Science will match total donations dollar for dollar up to $500. Let's make a difference together for science education!
My students have enjoyed using the Dash Sketch kits to learn coding and applying that skill to geometry. They have been practicing their 2 dimensional shapes by coding the DASH robot to sketch them out on the whiteboard mat.
The excitement was palpable when we unboxed the kits, we held a contest to see which teams would get to be the first to use the kits.
My advanced students will be attempting to code DASH to draw 3-dimensional objects, if successful they will then work with small groups to learn how to do the same.”

The impact your donation has made is truly incredible. Our new stream table truly made erosion come to life for my class. Students have taken their knowledge from this activity and have started pointing out the different areas around the school that they see erosion occurring. They created a great t-chart describing the differences between weathering and erosion.
When my student first saw the stream table set up, their curiosity and eagerness to find out what we were doing in science class today was amazing. I had weathered rocks from the Yellowstone River right next to it and it was neat to see them guessing and getting excited for this lesson.
Considering that weathering and erosion are "fair game standards" (standards taught in a previous year, but not explicitly taught in the 5th grade curriculum), it was neat to see the ah-ha moments that were had after seeing the model of how rivers carve the Earth's surface. As we prepare for state testing, I truly believe the students will have an opportunity to draw from this activity and connect with such an abstract idea for Florida students.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. I know my students were appreciative and truly loved the hands-on activity of weathering VS erosion.”

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My class loved this project! The children were able to watch tadpoles and caterpillars throughout their entire life cycle. My students would come in every day and check on their babies. The caterpillars turning into chrysalis' was by far the rewarding experience to watch. The kids would check every morning to see if they had hatched. The day the butterflies hatched was amazing. The kids were squealing with excitement and they couldn't stop watching them. Today we took the butterflies out to the butterfly garden at our school and we released them. Some of my girls were a little teary eyed but it was so exciting to watch the children's faces. Thank you so much for choosing my project! I am truly thankful to be able to give this experience to my students.”
First off, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation. Having a science table has made wonders in my classroom, especially during science lab time. Not having to push desk together and being afraid of the possibility of the desk coming apart and everything falling is awesome. My students are in love with our new table and the way it enhances our classroom is great. Once again I want to thank you, you have brought smiles to my entire classroom. My students and I are extremely grateful and I hope one day they will be able to pay it forward.”
Thank you so much for helping molecules come to life in the classroom! It will be such an engaging way for my students to see how life happens. I can't wait to see how excited my students will be to have this experience. I am excited to get started as well.”
Thank you so much for your generous donations. Without your help, my students wouldn't have been able to do this lab. They are so excited about science, and I know they are going to have a blast with this lab. Who knows, hopefully it will inspire them to start thinking about careers in chemistry or medicine :) Thank you again and have a wonderful day.”
