It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. Thank you for your donation(s) toward the Flip video cameras that are being used in the classroom. My students are also very grateful to be able to use the cameras to enhance their educational experience.
Students in my mathematics classes have utilized the video cameras to create newscasts, commercials, and ad campaigns depicting the concepts they have been learning. This interactive strategy is a great way to engage students in the classroom.
Other teachers within the school have been using the video cameras regularly. They have been used to help students critique their presentation techniques, create songs and raps to be shared with other classes, and create video presentations of various topics.
As a school, we are creating new ways to integrate the camera into the learning process. During this economic time with school budgets being severely reduced, it is important to have people like you who support student learning. Again, thank you for your donation(s) to this project.”
I wish you could see how a simple desk helped to change the environment in my classroom. With the addition of the computer desks in our science center, I was able to create learning pods for my students. With each unit of study, I am able to now set out center activities that have an instant impact on my students learning.
During our Science lessons, students who are in small groups gather around the tables and the center activities and get right down to work. They LOVE learning about Science and these centers create even more enthusiasm for learning.
Thank you again for helping to create that in my classroom. My students and I truly appreciate everything that you have done for us as we continue on our path of becoming lifelong learners!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Morrison-Dudley

Thank you all so very much for all of the amazing items that my classroom received to help with the study of life cycles. My students were truly amazed when we pulled out the microscopes and looked at the slides of butterfly wings and carnation petals. We had such a fabulous discussion about the cells that they saw and the shapes that they saw. My students are in awe every day at our little cricket habitat. My students love to go up and watch them, to water and feed them and to listen to them when the room is calm and quiet. I absolutely love how the noise of the crickets have such an amazing calming effect on my classroom. So again, I thank you so very much for the amazing experiences you have provided my classroom and I will thank you in advance for the amazing experiences my students will have in the Spring, when we will be able to use our butterfly pavilion and watch our ant community. You have truly impacted my student's in such an amazingly positive way and again I thank you!”
What IS that? Well, it's an Elmo – a document camera. And it's the best present a teacher could get! Why? No more transparencies, no more photocopying student work to show the class. Just put it on the desk, zoom in and everyone can see it. It's a teacher's dream.
Students share their notes and their worksheets – giving them pride in the work they do when they showcase their process.
We collaboratively edit poems and papers – demystifying the process of interacting with a text, whether it's one we're reading or writing.
We look at thesis statements and evidence from the book, building an analytic essay from the ground up – transparently.
The kids love it. It's cool, it's fun, and they're ENGAGED! Thank you for helping us zoom in on writing! You're a terrific group of donors, friends and family. ”
Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in supporting this project. It is great to see that you share my vision for strong literacy instruction in the classroom. My students and I will benefit greatly from your kindness, as will many future classes of children who will use these materials.
The LeapFrog Tag reading systems you have funded will give students the help they need to read books on their own. By using the LeapFrog pens, students can instantly get help with a word they don't know. This will increase their confidence as readers and also add to their ability to comprehend new and challenging texts.
Learning to read is every child's right. Your incredible support will put my students on track to becoming lifelong readers and learners. I cannot wait to share these new tools with my students and my colleagues.”
With gratitude,
