  • Using Technology in the Science Classroom!

    Funded May 27, 2010

I cannot begin to thank you enough for your kind donations! The LCD multimedia projector has been an asset to my science classroom and has already been a tremendous learning tool!

As we were discussion erosion and deposition, I was able to pull up a clip that showed the students both processes in action. It made learning the material so much more meaningful to the students.

As the year progresses, I am able to incorporate its use more and more in to the curriculum! I have created PowerPoint presentations to help cover topics with students. I have showed video clips to put a picture to abstract concepts. The uses are endless and so is the learning opportunities!

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students and I both appreciate it more than words can express!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Warren

  • A New Kindergarten Carpet: Missing a Special Place to "Park"

    Funded Mar 1, 2010

Ever since the arrival of the carpet, my children and I have felt more at home than we ever had before. I am so grateful that you have helped make our vision come true. Without you, my children would still be cramped and uncomfortable doing something that they love to do; read! This addition to my classroom will bring so much joy for years to come. It is bright and colorful; it makes such a beautiful difference then our bare floor.I cannot wait to open that first read aloud in September to the new kindergarten and have them enjoy their own "spot to park" for reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Papeika

  • Flip The Switch For Digital Storytelling!

    Funded Feb 22, 2010

Thank you all so very much for your support. As we speak I am currently at a statewide educational conference and expo, and many of the presenters are using the Flip cameras you all helped my class to secure. These will allow my students to truly create their own learning experiences and gain higher order thinking skills that are too often missing in classrooms today. The reality of society is that technology now surrounds us and I appreciate you helping me embrace the philosophy so wisely spoken by Benjamin Franklin, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Thanks again for your generosity and I only hope you see the benefits of projects like mine positively impact the future of tomorrow.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Strine

  • Star-Gazing, Earth-Saving and More!

    Funded Feb 9, 2010

I wanted to send you another thank you for the projector that you helped fund for my classroom! We have been using it quite extensively since we received it. The projector has brought many new resources into our classroom. For science, my students have been able to see fascinating movies and educational diagrams related to astronomy and environmental science. Having a projector has enabled me to expose my students to many more resources. Even in math, we use the projector daily so that I can show more examples on the board and help students to visualize our math curriculum.

The project your funded has really helped my students learn more this year! We, the students and I, really appreciate your contribution that made our learning possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fedak

  • Building Up Boys Through Books

    Funded Feb 16, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donation of books for our classroom library! When I announced to my students that we had received a gift of new books and read them the titles, they were pestering me daily until they came. Once they arrived, I had student clawing for the new books! It was difficult to decide which students should get the books first, however, what a wonderful dilemma to have!

Your donation made my students so excited to come to class daily for our twice-a-day DEAR (drop everything and read) period. In the past, I had many students-usually the boys--who would grumble about book choice and do homework instead of read. Now, I have all of my boys reading, and many of the girls are clamoring after the books as well. They have enjoyed the mystery novels, sports books, and dramas and are asking for new titles daily.

It is amazing how the simple act of reading can dramatically raise reading levels. With your generous gift I know that my students are well on their way to growing their reading levels two plus years this school year-- which is our goal. Thank you so much for your support. My students and myself appreciate it more than you know.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hughes

  • Technology for Teaching!

    Funded Feb 25, 2010

Thank you all for your generous donations! I wish you would be able to see the impact that your donations have made, but since you can't see it firsthand, let me tell you. The children were so amazed to get the big boxes in the mail. We stopped class (just for a few minutes) to open them up. It was amazing.

Now that we have these new tools, I am able to be a better teacher. A lot of our reading lessons are now more engaging because of the projector. We studied for our PSSA's (our state standardized test) on the projector.

I also want to thank you for enabling me to purchase a new CD player. Previous to the new one, I had brought in an old one from my house, and it was not nearly loud enough! That is, if it even worked at all. (My kids always joked and asked my CD player if it felt like playing our story that day!)

Your kind and generous donations made such an impact in my classroom, and I am brought to tears to think of your kindness. It's nice to know that people out there care about my kids just as much as I do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeFazio

  • Wildcats Wish To Read And Suceed

    Funded Mar 1, 2010

Thank you all so much for your help and support. I can't even begin to tell you the changes I have seen in my classroom in such a short time. My children are now arguing over which literacy center they want to go in, when before I had to push them to choose any of them. Not only are they arguing over the centers, they even ask to use them during their free time in the afternoons.

The leveled readers we received are working wonders for my students who were improving yet where at a stand still because I didn't have enough of the proper books to take them further. Some of my students are now reading on a second grade level in kindergarten!

All the other materials we have gotten such as our classroom news, and sight word charts and cards have become a part of our daily routine in which the children and myself enjoy greatly!

    Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hlat

  • Once Upon A Time...

    Funded Feb 24, 2010

Thank you again for your generosity! It is such an amazing thing to see how many people truly care about the children of America. You in fact care so much that you choose to invest in their future. It is my hope and desire that your gift, of the storytelling kits, will not just be a fun center for my kids. But that it will inspire them to embrace reading and make it a lifelong habit.

My students come to me with a one to two year deficit in language. The more they hear, read, and retell stories, the more their vocabulary will increase and the closer they will get to their peers in education. These storytelling kit books are at levels that most of my students are able to read independently. But even if they are unable to read it they can listen to some of them.

These books will enrich their vocabulary, heighten their interest in literature, and open up a whole new world to them. I hope that over time that we can close the educational gap that divides the children here in the USA. Your gift will take us one step closer to that goal. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B.
