  • Training Future Surgeons

    Funded Jan 23, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation through Donor's Choose. Our school's biology students were given a memorable experience as a result of your generosity, and had the opportunity to imagine themselves as surgeons. Student excitement and engagement in human anatomy increased tremendously. Through both a sheep heart and bullfrog dissections, students learned to identify and explain the location and function of internal organs with great accuracy. Students were thrilled to come to class and were buzzing about their laboratory experiences throughout school and at home. Even students in the younger grades wandered into the classroom excited to see what their older peers were studying. This was the first year our school attempted dissections, and as a result of student achievement and success, I hope to make this experience a biology tradition for future science students. Without your generous donations, this would not be possible. Thank you.”

  • Henny Penny; The Adventures of Chicken Hatching and Brooding

    Funded Nov 9, 2012

Empathy, that was the focus of this project. Empathy is what was accomplished. Empathy was demonstrated by children and adults throughout this project but it really began with you and your generous donations. My kids noticed. They noticed that people out there care about them. Thank you. They felt your empathy and thus were able to learn its lessons when studying, handling, and caring for our chick. We didn't have the hatch rate we hoped for but we had the supplies to take us through this project and accomplish our goals. Thanks to your donations we will have what we need to continue this in the years to come as well. The children love our class chick. The chirping in the background and their gentle and enthusiastic response to that is priceless. I wish you could hear and see it. Thank you again for your generosity and empathy. We notice and we appreciate.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • She Blinded Me with Science...Supplies!

    Funded Nov 7, 2012

Thank you to all the wonderful donors that contributed to this project. The supplies were definitely necessary to complete our experiments this year.

The microscopes work great! We have used them to look at cells and different microscopic organisms. Next we will be looking at cells undergoing division when we learn about mitosis. It has also been less stressful as their are more tools to go around in classes of 29 students!

Pipettes were passed out to students who needed them to complete science fair projects independently and they were extremely grateful for the tools they needed.

Graduated cylinders were also passed out for science fair with the condition they would come back to help out with classroom experiments in the future.

    Thank you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White-Clark

  • Quench a Student's Thirst for Reading!

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

Thank you for being champions for education! I can't fully express my joy, excitement and thanks for your donations to our project. The resources that you have helped to provide will help inspire curiosity within not only this class but many future students to come.

The more high quality literature my students read, the more they ask to read. By providing them with brand new books for their classroom library, you have helped my students take ownership of their lives, their learning, their future success, as well as their present success.

The students helped me stock a few book boxes with your support, and those books have been flying off the shelves ever since. We just did a great non-fiction reading and writing unit where the books you provided were influential. Please know that they are so appreciative, not only that they have new books, but also to know that people genuinely care out there. On behalf of my current and future students, thank you for making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Briley

  • Pig Dissection!

    Funded Nov 6, 2012

I want to personally thank you for your generous donations. Because of your donations we have been able to purchase fetal pigs for our freshman to dissect. You have made a positive impact on the academic lives of our students.

Our high school is a public charter school that has only been around for a few years. In the past the students have not been offered many lab opportunities. Our science department has recently been making a concerted effort to add lab opportunities for our students. We feel that labs will not only help to prepare students who are interested in furthering their science knowledge at college, but will offer every student the hands on experience necessary for their learning.

Although you many not personally know these students, you should know that your gift for our science department is truly an investment in the future. We have many bright and hardworking students who, if given the right opportunities, will be able to achieve great things”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gomberg

  • A Hop in the Right Direction...with a Frog Dissection!

    Funded Dec 3, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The frogs and dissection equipment that you donated have helped my students learn more about anatomy. We have really enjoyed having the opportunity to dissect and learn through a hands-on experience.

Without your help, my students were able to experience a memory that will last a lifetime. They learned more about Science that, hopefully, sparked an interest in anatomy or other areas such as research.

Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cohen

  • Landlocked: What is the ocean?

    Funded Oct 28, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to my class. My students, as well as two other classes, were able to enjoy an experience of a lifetime by going to the aquarium.

Many of my students will live their lives without ever stepping foot in the ocean. On our trip, students were able to have hands-on experiences with this part of our world. We saw sharks, turtles, eels, jelly fish, and so many other types of animals. We even got to touch and feed some sting rays!

You have truly made a difference. Thank you for giving my kids this opportunity. I hope this has inspired them to see the world a little differently.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanna

  • Help These Budding Biologists Genotype!

    Funded Dec 13, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my project, "Help these budding biologists genotype!" Thanks to your donation, I was able to purchase materials for laboratory experiments that allowed my students to determine their own genotype for a tasting gene. It was engaging for all students! Many of them told me it changed their plans for the future, that they are now interested in pursuing a career and education in science.

First students extracted their DNA, and then they used advanced microbiology techniques to amplify and analyze their genes. It was a great way to learn science!

    Thanks again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Edgar

  • Is That the Liver or Kidney?

    Funded Oct 15, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation! The fish dissection model, frog dissection model, and starfish anatomy biorama have been exceptionally helpful for teaching anatomy to my zoology students. The models have been an amazing tool during the dissections. When they are dissecting, they are able to look at the model to compare to their frog, starfish, and fish. This has been very helpful for them learning the anatomy. They have been able to learn the anatomy quicker when they have the models, compared to dissections that we do not have models for.

Your donations have directly helped all of my students. Without your help, they would not have as much fun learning animal anatomy. I am grateful to your company for helping my students learn!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hostetter

  • Balancing our Resources

    Funded Oct 9, 2012

Thank you so much for your generosity and for providing this balance for my laboratory and classroom. My students have already begun using it and demonstrating classroom concepts with laboratory experiments made possible with this equipment. They have expressed their pleasure at being able to use these supplies to support their other learning. Without your generosity, there is no way that we could integrate this hands-on experience for all students.

Our district is in the midst of a serious budget issue, and supplies such as these do not fit into the plan for the schools. So you have, truly, provided a special and unique experience for these and future students in chemistry.

Thanks to your generosity, a number of students will have the opportunity to find increased success in the sciences and may use that inspiration to help others!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Krones
