  • PPE Can Help Me!

    Funded Feb 26, 2021

Let me start by saying thank you for the donations to my classroom during a time when the world stood still. It was truly a blessing to receive the items for my students. During the pandemic a lot of restrictions were put on the teacher in my school district. By reaching out to Donors Choose, I was able to use the supplies to create an environment that was comfortable, conducive for learning, spacious and most importantly safe for my students to be in. My heart was filled with so much joy because I never experienced such kindness towards educators because we are the forgotten profession. However, DonorsChoose has given me hope and belief that we are not forgotten. Also, we are chosen to do a greater good. So, thanks again DonorsChoose for your support. It is truly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Douglas

  • Engineers Use Pencils

    Funded Mar 4, 2021

I apologize for the late letter, My students have been able to magnify their Computer Aided Designs using the Apple Pens that were donated by donors choose. It was difficult for students learning remotely to access software programs for our engineering lessons. With the pens students were able to make precision movements on their Ipads.

Additionally, students with learning disabilities are able to use the pens to feel more in control of their learning. This has also enabled students who graduated and have gone on to college to see the benefit of this technology device while studying at University.

Thank you so much for choosing my program ❤️.”

  • Changing Minds and How We See Black History Wall Murals!

    Funded Feb 23, 2021

To begin with, I'd like to tell you what a blessing you are for giving towards this project and making this experience possible. You are awesome!! My students really pushed the envelope on this one, and as expected, the ideals and stories behind the men and women portrayed in their wall murals led them to embrace diversity and the cultural significance it plays in our daily lives.

I personally saw my students mature in a blink of an eye, and as they began connecting their art with the likenesses of these famous individuals, you could tell they were working on a more intimate and personal level. Not only were they introduced to the art of mural portraiture paintings using the matrix grid technique, but they also came together to make some beautiful art as well!!

So again, it was because of you and your dedication to the enrichment of our children's education, that this project was made possible. Throughout the month of Feb. these wall murals hung throughout our school, up and down hallways, inside the cafeteria and even in the gymnasium. Numerous parents, guests, central office personnel, etc. when visiting our school had great things to say about them and the way our school teaches and embraces diversity throughout was a common pleasure to see. So, you can imagine that especially in times like that how proud I was of my students and how honored I am to teach these meaningful and inspiring visual arts "life" lessons.”

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

Thank you so much for thinking of the students during this time. The tools that you all provided are helping my students feel more confident and comfortable with their learning journey. Donors Choose has been an essential resource for my students and their families. Thank you for your support and continued dedication to our students. We use the tools to help students learn to read, write, and share their thoughts. The snacks are an important part of the school day because it encourages students to work hard for rewards that they enjoy and feel happy to have. I can't express my gratitude for your support this school year.”

  • Help Us Complete Our Dress for Success Closet

    Funded Feb 7, 2023

Thank you so much for investing in our Dress for Success program at G.W. Carver High School. The clothes steamer gets much use each week for students who are in need of a quick wrinkle release or a wrinkle free shirt or pair of pants for an interview. It is a high quality tool that helps us get students ready quickly to look their best. The hangers were used to hang clothing that has been donated by community partners for our Dress for Success closet. This has allowed us to move from students sifting through clothing on tables to easily being able to find just the clothing article they need. We are so grateful for your support to help our students make sure they look and feel like future professionals.”

  • Colorful Creations

    Funded May 8, 2023

Thank you for your generous support of our classroom's "Colorful Creation" project. Our class has been using our new printer in all subjects and are enjoying the bright, brilliant colors and bold paragraphs that we now have access to because of your generous donations. Our Thankful activity was a great success because of our new printer and the level of creativity each student displayed in their work.

My students are excited and focused while learning, reading, interacting and working on activities in the classroom. Thank you for making Colorful Creations a success.”

  • Tabletop Toys!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

These materials have made the world of difference to my students. These materials have been a HUGE hit in my classroom.

These materials are easily accessible to my students, and students can easily put them on the tables to play with during our "free play" time of our day. These materials are all materials that my students are interested in playing with, so my students don't get tired of playing with them. These materials are great for collaborative playing amongst the students and promote student imaginary play!”

  • Comfortable Flexible Seating and Alternative Learning Area

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

My students are LOVING using the wobble stools and the alternative learning area! They are helping each other to learn through each other. Watching them learn how to teach each other and how to communicate with each other is very heart warming!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your donations!

The second grade scholars in my classroom love learning from each other! Without your help and support through donations, our jobs as educators is extremely difficult. Financially, we want to be able to provide for all of our students. It takes an army, and thank you for being a piece to the army!”

  • Document That: Telling our Stories through Student-Created Documentaries

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

Your donation to my classroom has improved my classroom in many ways. We started this documentary project back in September and we are in the process of interviewing people who we consider as experts. The equipment you purchased help us to practice how the interview process will work, using live equipment. I was able to hold clinics for students. So, next week, we conduct interviews. After that, we transcribe interviews and begin to put our documentaries together. The plan is to have the documentaries ready by our winter break! We so appreciate your support. Thank you again.”

  • The Grizzly Bean - PVHS First Student-Run Cafe

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Managing and running The Grizzly Bean, our mobile cafe in partnership with SPED, has led to greater confidence, autonomy, mentorship and willingness to work together.

When we began The Grizzly Bean, we had four main objectives in mind.

Student Involvement: Life Skill students will benefit by being more integrated into the Pajaro Valley High School family at-large.

Student Collaboration: Entrepreneurship students will collaborate and communicate with students who are differently-abled than them.

Pajaro Valley High Family: The PV High Family is missing out on what Life Skills students have to offer and teach. We need to interact with them as fellow students and equal partners in our local and wider communities.

Compassionate Leaders: Entrepreneurship students will learn soft skills like compassion, and empathy, while also gaining leadership and teaching skills.

Myself, Kelly and our students are incredibly grateful for your financial support! We hope to continue making The Grizzly Bean a safe space for personal and professional growth for our Life Skills and Entrepreneurship students, and the wider Pajaro Valley High School community.”
