  • Interactive Chemistry

    Funded Sep 17, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation. The laptop that you provided for my classroom is used everyday. In fact I am writing this impact letter on it right now. When we first received the laptop my students were eager to use it. It made several projects more interesting for my students and motivated them to excel. That alone would have been worth it, but your donation has become a catalyst for something even greater.

I was able to use your gift to show my schools technology coordinator the need for technology in our science rooms. This convinced him to purchase 7 more netbooks for the room. Now I am able to have a netbook at each lab station and the students are able to use them almost daily. It has served as a motivating force and has increased my students understanding of chemistry. The wonderful fruits of your donation do not stop there.

After several months of using the classroom laptops I had the opportunity to help with a proposal to begin a one computer per child program at my school. On January 10th I was able to present the effectiveness of the netbooks to our school board and they decided to fund a pilot project. Now all 100 of our juniors will be receiving their own netbooks that they can bring home and use to complete projects and assignments. You should be incredibly proud of the fact that your donations have helped to fuel a transformation of an entire school. Thank you so much. You have made a great impact on the lives of many students.”

  • Moved to a Unit with No Outside Activities, Help!

    Funded Sep 17, 2010

Thank you so much for the wonderful physical education material for recess outside my unit! The balls, hula hoops, bean bags and jump ropes are a big hit. I captured some adorable pictures. Both units of children will be well supplied for there are 12 small balls, 6 basketballs and 6 large round balls. They were so excited to use them, but I wouldn't let them until they had completed thank you notes, which they did today. You are very special to my children. Thank you again. Mrs. D”

  • Program Your Robot to Play Classroom Soccer, Part 2

    Funded Sep 17, 2010

Most awesome indeed! Kindly donating for girls and robots! I've read your notes to my students and they were very excited. I was very uplifted as well! Students have worked with this netbook. Prior to receiving this netbook, students were working on an old desktop. That process was frustrating at times for the students as the computer would freeze up in the middle of a program download, or other things of that nature were taking place. When we received the netbook, we downloaded the software and went to work immediately. The frustration is gone as everything is working smoothly, every day. The netbook can be carried easily around the room and the students are finding it very user-friendly and convenient. You can see from the pictures that they are using their netbook to work out kinks in their programming. They are currently trying to successfully run their robot through the maze seen on the picture using infra-red sensors and programming. IT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE A MONUMENTAL TASK TO HELP THE STUDENTS REALIZE THAT TECHNOLOGY IS BOTH "FUN AND A VIABLE CAREER OPTION." IT IS REVITALIZING AND VERY ENCOURAGING TO RECEIVE THIS KIND OF SUPPORT! THANK YOU! YOUR CONCERN AND CARE IS ENERGIZING!

  • Visual Math

    Funded Sep 17, 2010

Everyday I teach math to 90 vibrant and enthusiastic 3rd graders, and I am always looking for new and creative ways to reach all of my students. Since my class is very hands-on and high energy, I need a way for students to retain complex math ideas in a fun way. I want to teach fractions in a way that students will comprehend, and by funding my project for fraction tiles you have provided the tools I need to help accomplish this goal. By funding a set of fraction tiles for each student they will be able to work along with me and also by themselves to gain confidence in their math skills. These fraction tile sets can be used for years and years and will benefit numerous students. Students will gain understanding and lives will be changed! By using fraction tiles to conceptualize an understanding of fractions, students will be able to carry these skills with them throughout their entire lives.

Your generosity has inspired me and will have a positive effect on many, many students for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.
