It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. Just a little note of appreciation for all the alphabet materials I received from my funded project! I am so excited to say that we have been able to use the materials from your donation to my project every day so far this new school year!
My students are so excited to be able to come to school and use the alphabet materials. We are using the materials to sort letters, learn letter names and sounds, hear and recognize beginning sounds and are having FUN each day. They are also setting the foundation to become lifelong readers!
As budget concerns have really effected our district this year, these new materials are what keep our students engaged and excited about learning.
I'd like to thank you again for funding my project of female-centered literature. Receiving these books and incorporating them into our classroom library was a great way to end our school year. My students loved the books I read aloud to them (boys and girls alike) and read many more of them on their own during silent reading. Many of the books were new to all of us, including myself. I think at times I was just as giddy as they were at the thought of discovering some great new literature. Thank you again for donating to DonorsChoose.org and to my project in particular. I hope you enjoyed your experience and will consider donating again in the future!”
I wanted to thank you again for all of your help and dedication to helping the students and myself learn more about Peters Creek. You are all an asset to the community. As the students wrote letters to the incoming seventh graders, they all raved about the Peters Creek field trip and the memories they made. Many students asked if they could bring in a flash drive and copy the pictures they took. They wanted to have copies for themselves. Not only did they learn about environmental science, they learned about technology.
It is only with the help of sites like donorschoose.org and those persons such as yourself that have made a direct impact in the classroom. No monies were spent on administrative functions. The students were deeply affected. I'm always impressing upon them the need to give back when they can whether it be with their time, talents, or money. Hopefully they will remember what someone did for them and pay it forward!
I wanted to take this opportunity to that all of you for your contribution to my classroom project. The materials have greatly improved the organization in the room, especially all of the worksheets we have to keep track of for the labs we do. What an improvement! We have three textbooks to keep track of in our classroom as well, so the bookshelf enables us to have the textbooks available, but not cluttering up the desks. I know my students are truly grateful for your contributions. They are not used to having people take notice of them and spend money on their education. This gesture instills confidence in them to work harder to make use of the materials you helped in acquiring.”
The students and I would like to say thank you for the materials that you purchased for our classroom. The live animals allowed the students to be able to observe on a personal level the various stages of the animal life cycles and document each part of their development. The writing process was enhanced because students had an individual investment in the material they were writing about and were able to share their passion with others.
The students were able to foster working relationships with their peers as they analyzed the animal habitats. They held mini-conferences with each other and participated in round-table discussions which introduced them to peers they would normally not speak to. They were able to collaborate effectively and ended up hosting students from other classrooms explaining the process of life cycles and habitats. This translated into positive self-esteem and encouraged students in their learning process of speaking and listening skills.
This donation enabled my classroom to build achievement on many levels and to let them know that positive things are possible when they build a goal and stay with it. They were partners with me in this learning journey, and I know it would not have occurred without the kindness and generosity of your company. Thank you again for your donation, it truly blessed many individuals!”
Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project, Support for Struggling Readers. Although some of the supplies won't be used until next year, we have begun using the dictionaries and Weekly Reader magazines. We only had one dictionary in the library before you funded this project, so these have been an amazing addition to our classroom. The Weekly Reader magazines are a fantastic resource for my students. They contain interesting articles that are short enough to keep the students' attention and this is a major benefit over other non-fiction materials.
I cannot say enough how lucky we are to have such gracious donors. Thank you again for your support and have an amazing summer!”
We have been using our new boots for the past couple of months. It is so nice that all of the kids are able to be involved, instead of being side-lined simply because they didn't have boots. We have been having a lot of rain and it has been quite cold lately, but our students have had dry feet when we have gone out to the creek to do water testing. We have been getting satisfactory water chemical test results and the students have been excited and surprised by the amount and types of macroinvertebrates that they have been able to find while we have been investigating our communities waterway.
The students (and myself) were so pleasantly surprised that there are people that are willing to support environmental education. We are all so very grateful for your support. The boots that we bought will support our aquatic endeavors for many years. Thank you so very much!”
Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our school. These texts will push students to think more critically about the world they live in. With rich themes students will make connections to content they have covered in other classes as well as to their very own lives.
I have been able to deliver these books to students who need that extra push prior to stepping foot in a high school classroom. The skills and strategies the students developed while reading these texts is invaluable. Also many of these texts are required reading at the high school level so it will hopefully give them an advantage when tackling these texts in the classroom.
Once again thank you for your donation and it has and will continue to make a difference in the lives of these students.”
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and assistance in acquiring Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture. While my students were reading this memoir, they began to feel a deep connection to some of Randy's advice. Many of my students have expressed to me how much this book has made them think about their future. I have noticed students who were not inspired to read anything all year begin to carry this book with them everywhere. They embraced this book in such a way that I was touched.Several of my students even asked for their own personal copy of the book because they wanted to reread it. Of course, I gave them one of the copies of the book as a graduation gift because they were so touched by Randy's words.
My students have now finished reading the memoir. One of the activities that I asked my students to do after reading this memoir was to write their own last lecture to give to the juniors. Many of my students embraced this idea and bestowed wonderful words of wisdom upon the junior class.
As a unifying theme for the senior class at my school district, the students chose The Last Lecture as their graduation theme. They plan on incorporating some of Randy's bits of wisdom into their graduation speeches.
So I just want to say thank you for inspiring my students. ”
I can't fully express my thanks to all of you for your donations to my project. The cameras, cases. and batteries that you have funded will enable the yearbook staff of our middle school to create a yearbook that will not only be something that they can be proud of, but that others will treasure. You have made the yearbook staff a place that all kids in our school can be active parts of, even if they can not afford a camera on their own. I can not stress what a difference you have made for these kids.
Thank you so much for your help,
Ms. N”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nardina
