I love reading - you love reading - Lets work give everyone the opportunity to read! I've selected several proposals from various areas of the country that focus on reading, learning to ready, and learning to love reading. If any of these requests speak to you, I hope you'll consider a donation; remember EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! Also - if by some crazy miracle we fund each of the projects I've selected I'll pick more...because whichever Blogger raises the most $$ WINS! And ... more

  • MagicTreehouse Books Help Transitional Readers Build Stamina

    Funded Nov 26, 2008

I am so pleased to learn that our project has been funded. Having a well stocked classroom library is essential to good teaching. Being able to provide the books included in this proposal will ensure my students' reading success. Not only will they have them available in the classroom, but there are enough titles to have a "lending library" where children borrow these books to read at home. I can't wait to see their faces when the books arrive. Your very kind and generous donation is sincerely appreciated”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeVito

  • Class Sets for Read-Aloud Literature

    Funded Nov 13, 2008

Wow! Thank you so very much. This is the first time I submitted a project to DonorsChoose.org, and I am thrilled to have it funded. The children in my class will be surprised and happy to hear the news. And I am looking forward to using it to teach--in fact, I can hardly wait!

I have a homeroom class and a "deployment" class, each composed of different children. I teach language arts to the homeroom students, of course, and also for an hour a day to the deployment kids. Each group will use these materials, in turn, so, right off the bat, more than 60 children will benefit.

Thank you, again. The lessons from these materials, lessons in reading comprehension and in character development, are the kind of learning that makes an important and lasting impression on students.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. ”

  • Beginning Readers Need a Listening Library

    Funded Nov 1, 2008

I wanted to express my appreciation for your donation to fund the project, "Beginning Readers Need a Listening Library." My students will be so excited when they hear that the listening library will have new books with recordings on C.D. and cassette! Your donation will benefit my students by fostering listening skills and reading skills. Many of my students are learning English and the listening library will help them to develop vocabulary and sentence structure. The first grade students are learning about print in books and are learning to make a connection with speech and print.

Thank you for your generous donation to foster the love of reading for my first grade students. I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness in consideration of this project that will benefit students living in poverty”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Puryear

  • Books 'R Us

    Funded Nov 8, 2008

I'm not really sure what to say right now. I know that Thank You is appropriate and expected, but I don't feel that those 2 little words do my feelings enough justice. I am coming off of a trying week, but I keep remembering how much fun my 6th graders and I had at the end of the day yesterday. We were dancing around the room to the old Sister Sledge song, "We Are Family!" because that's exactly what we consider ourselves, family. Now, thanks to you, I will have amazing news to share with my family when I see them again on Monday. I wish I could allow you to see their faces when I tell them. Believe me, it's priceless”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olivera

  • Stories, Stories, All Around!

    Funded Oct 22, 2008

I am so excited to learn that my proposal, "Stories Stories All Around" has been fully funded! I myself am an avid reader, and one of my goals as a teacher is to share the love of reading with children. The materials you are providing will give students a great introduction to learning to read! I think it is going to be so much fun to have these materials to share stories with my students.

I want to stress to you my great appreciation for your generosity and for the website, DonorsChoose.org. Thanks again SO MUCH for helping my classroom. I am so grateful!

  • Leveled Library Love

    Funded Oct 21, 2008

You are my students' hero! My principal just told me this morning that the school would definitely be unable to help get leveled readers for our school this year. Thank you so, so much for your contribution! With these libraries we will be able to reach ALL students at their specific reading levels. Our class (as well as the rest of the school) has a wide array of reading levels and these leveled libraries will be an enormous help in meeting student need. Thank you again- your donation will make an enormous difference at our school.

    Sincerely,

    Nat”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Manaen
