I'm humbled by the massive amount of generosity you have all displayed in giving to this project. I cannot think of a more deserving class for such a useful piece of technology. The day we received the projector, my students had a dance party in front of it to test out the camera. We have been able to project assignments and assessments on the Elmo a few times this year and the frequency of use will only increase as the year progresses. My lessons are much more interactive every time the Elmo makes an appearance and the visual aids it produces increases the learning and mastery in a tangible way.”
We can not thank you enough for your giving hearts, allowing our classroom to experience learning in the 21st century. My students just had the biggest smile when they got to see the ipod that you helped fund. They are more enthusiastic about practicing their math facts, revisiting their sight words and spelling words and they are also starting to research using google and the webster dictionary apps. My students take turns in using the ipod 10 minutes every day. Not only they are having so much fun but also feel the independence and accountability in using their "ipod time" wisely and productively. There are so much educational apps available to learning students out there and we are just getting started! What a great way to learn! Big thanks to you all”
My students' are enjoying the computer and the multi-lingual software you so generously provided. Since the project was funded I've received two new students, one from Korea and one from Vietnam. Both students spoke little English and use the computer to log onto google translate when they can express themselves in English.
Unfortunitly the Windows update that I wrote the proposal for was no longer available at the price I requested by the time the project was funded. I was able to select a replacement item, in this case I choose a Korean keyboard and Spanish keyboard. These are far more useful to my students then the upgrade I originally ask for. Students fight over using them, I will definitely write another proposal soon for more multi-lingual keyboards.
Thank you once again for your generosity. It has made a difference in the quality of my students' education this year, and will continue for many more years”
Research is showing that my students, minority students who are learning English as a Second Language, will very soon out pace their classroom peers in understanding the use and practice of today's technology. I don't want to replace the basics of speaking and writing completely with technology; I want to begin to harness the power of one so that my students will gain strength in the other. This Mac Mini is providing direct access to technology most of them have never experienced. They are learning how to edit their pictures, cropping out what they do not want and focusing in on what they do want. They are learning how to create a slideshow and movies of their pictures. They have started to record their writing on GarageBand and add their pictures to make a movie.
My students each have access to their pictures to help inspire them for writing. They are incorporating their writing and pictures and starting to see the genre of writing as something exciting. Thank you for this technology in my classroom and for my students.”
Our Tag systems arrived today! The children were ecstatic! Their eyes were so bright and wide when they opened the boxes to reveal 4 tag readers, cases, and new books!
They were so disappointed when they found out that they would have to wait for me to load the books on the readers, but immediately after work they were all huddled around their books and were engaged in every word!
The conversations I overheard were absolutely touching to a teacher's heart! I feel as if their comprehension skills were boosted as soon as they turned the tag readers on :)
Thanks again for brightening their world and our future!”
This letter cannot begin to express my gratitude to you. You have had an unmeasurable impact on my class. Thank you so much for your generosity! Thanks to you, my students have been able to narrow down exactly which endangered butterfly they want to focus on - the Karner Blue butterfly. They started their garden in the fall by planting several plants that attract butterflies. Now that they have chosen a specific species, they are going to begin raising the host plant - blue lupine - in our classroom. I am extremely excited that you have given my students the opportunity to help their Earth. They have been so inspired by this project! They cannot stop talking about the butterflies! Every time they finish their work, they want to go online to learn more about endangered butterflies. Although we began this journey with Disney Planet Challenge for the butterflies, this project has truly transformed my students into motivated and self-directed students with a passion for helping their planet.
Once again, THANK YOU for all that you have done for my students!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Biehls
This classroom project was brought to life by Disney's Planet Challenge and 4 other donors.
I am forever grateful for you gift to my classroom. Having a projector will enhance my ability to teach my students. I am so excited to tell them about your generosity and how many people care about their education!
A projector will allow my students to use current technology in our classroom any day we choose! They will be able to see the things we are talking about, we will be able to watch videos, and students will learn to prepare presentations for the class.
I am so excited to see what a difference a projector will make in our classroom. I am sure that my students will be just as excited as I am! Thank you so much for caring about my students and their education!”
Thank you so much for your generous donations. My class was thrilled when the television arrived. We have been able to watch character education and science videos through out the school year to enhance our learning. Other classrooms have came and borrowed our television to use in their room as well. It has really helped us support student learning and many classrooms have benefited from your gift.
One of my students thought he could get donations for a DS for himself so we tried to explain that the supplies we receive are for the classroom and not just for him. Very cute how little minds work. They are always thinking and questioning the world around us. Again, Thank you so much for all you do for children and schools!!”
I wish each of you could have seen the look on the faces of my kindergarten students when they walked into our classroom and saw our beautiful new rug. They were ecstatic! One of the little girls in my class immediately began to tell us all the many activities we could participate in on this new piece of carpet.
The rug is so bright and cheerful and adds beauty, excitement, and learning to every day. We spend much of our day there. We sit on our rug during our morning routine. We sit on the rug for read-aloud at least three times a day. Some of us sit on the rug during center time, and we sit on the rug to recap our day at the end of each day.
We can now work on letter, color, and shape recognition, and participate in many learning opportunities. Our new rug has also helped to alleviate some allergy and asthma problems. Thank you so much for helping to improve the health of my students and for bringing excitement and learning to our kindergarten classroom.”
I cannot adequately express with words how much your donations to my Phoneme Phun Project mean to my students and me. Thanks so much to those of you who strongly believe in the importance of early literacy.
Your donations toward funding my project have enabled me to flood my classroom with opportunities for my students to explore the sounds of language. These items we have received have helped me to provide a phonemically rich environment.
My students and I are thrilled with our new learning center activities. Because of your support the children are now having hands-on opportunities to develop Phonemic Awareness which will help in their development in learning to read. We are forever grateful! ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tallon
