Thank you for all your donations to the project. It's especially hard in recent years to get school-based funding for these sorts of equipment with budget cuts district wide. The students really enjoyed the flame test lab especially. Who doesn't get excited with bright colors and a hot flame?
It's especially good for me to be able to sit back and let the science speak for itself, to let the wonder and magic of it make the content come alive. They would have learned the material without the equipment, but they wouldn't have been as invested in the material or understood why it matters as much.
I look forward to being able to adapt more labs to the portable burners for future classes. It's a gift that will keep giving.”
This is just a small token of my and my student's gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The breadboards and circuit kits are the best way to teach the students how to actually build a circuit. The students this year had a great time putting the circuits together, as will students in years to come.
There is no money in the budget for supplies for Technology, even though it is a vital subject in society today. Without your help the students would have to learn circuits on paper and not know the joy of making the physical connections and seeing the end results. They had fun and some have actually expressed interest in gaining further knowledge of circuitry.
Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without needed supplies!”
Can you imagine second graders trying to master using the loupes with no hands? Well it was a treat. Some got the hang really fast and others often held their head back to support the loupe, but eventually they too mastered the skill. They felt proud to accomplish such a feat.
You have opened a new world for my curious students who actually ceased talking to examine the small details in the objects they were observing. It's so amazing that such a small tool brought such big surprises. Secondly, having my reserve and reluctant students rush up to me and share what they've observed has been priceless! However, having them to think about what shape, lines or images remind them of has been challenging because they're not used to such questioning but with time and practice I'm confident that I will be crafting stronger writers who are able to make connections to their world.
Now that spring is just around the corner, I can't wait for my students to explore the textures, function and purposes of things found in nature by observing, sketching, questioning, discussing and writing. Thank you so much.”
Words can not express how grateful my students and I are that you were so selfless that you would choose our class to receive your donation. We are so excited about becoming future scientists at work. Although this year is not a tested grade in Science for my students, the skills and experiments that you have assisted with will help prepare the students for such assessments.
The students are especially excited about the Magnetic Field Demonstrator, the Magnet Kit, and the Properties of Light Kits. This is the first time I've seen them excited about Science. So, again, I say thank you.”
My student's were very touched that you thought enough about their education to donate to donors choose. They were eager to get started with whatever project I placed before them. It created an air of excitement. They wanted to see how to apply their learning to everyday situations. The very first project they participated in was titled "colorful flames". The student's learned how elements produced specific colors and how these very same elements are used to produce the beautiful fireworks we all like to enjoy throughout the holidays and during various celebrations. We will continue to use the materials you provided to build lessons and gain knowledge.”
I cannot fully express how grateful and excited I am for the materials that you have provided my students with. It is deeply moving to know that there are individuals out there like you who share my passion for science education.
These materials will enable my students to explore scientific processes and topics through hands on activities. You have ensured that my students will have the opportunity to develop important skills and engage in exciting science activities.
Thank you so much for your generosity! You have truly touched the lives of my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. DeRoo
