It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Getting the Most Out of Our Classroom Computers

    Funded Dec 13, 2009

On behalf of my 30 students and I, thank you so very much for our classroom set of computer headphones and mouse pads. Now, more students have had the opportunity to use our classroom computers in a multisensory environment!

These high quality headphones have been very useful in Reading Workshop, when I give my emergent readers time to practice on websites that work on sight words and phonics. Students have also been able to use these headphones during Math, Writing Workshop, and free time as well. Most importantly, having the basic supplies for each of our classroom computers has meant that we have been able to utilize them all at one. This exposure to technology has helped my students gain computer skills and has pushed them to meet national technology standards. They have learned basic typing skills, how to go to their favorite websites, and how to log on to our school's network. What a bunch of stars I have!

Again, thank you so much for your generous donation. It is donors like you who make teachers feel supported and push us to improve our own strategies. Your help has been very much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blundy

  • Creative Children in Crisis!

    Funded Nov 28, 2009

Thank you so much for the donation you have made to my classroom! You have made a huge difference in the lives of many children in Illinois!

With your donation, we were able to expand our supplies from basic pencils and paper to paints, shown in the pictures attached, canvases, charcoal, charcoal paper and weaving looms. My students were really excited to learn about the donation, and even more excited to use the materials.

Personally, I am most excited about the paints and ten canvases. With those canvases, I will choose ten students to create special paintings for our upcoming annual Fine Arts Open House. At the Open House, the paintings will be auctioned off, to raise money for the Art department and our dwindling budget. It is great to see these students create something special that they can be proud of and will help their school.

I encourage you to continue to support classrooms around America, as many children are in need of additional resources to improve their education. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bailey

  • Trapped in the Stone Age

    Funded Dec 4, 2009

Thank you for your generous donation an LCD projector to my classroom. Initially, I was sharing an LCD projector with the entire building. Often, I had to reschedule lessons, or postpone instruction that required the use of a LCD projector. NO MORE! NO MORE! I have been able to be more effective and encouraged a continued growth in student's writing scores.

I teach seventh and eighth grade writing which causes for me to model effective writing strategies to students in a classroom with limited space. Teaching from my laptop to an LCD projector will abate me in effective writing instruction to my students. The laptop, speakers and printer (and ink) used in my classroom currently were purchased out of my personal funds.

It is my overall vision to prepare all students for the diverse world community through a constantly evolving, multicultural, technology-based core curriculum that stresses academic achievement, performance in the arts, and training in vocational and technical occupations.

Data has prove, especially with the challenges of today, we are teaching a Malti-media student. Malti-media students- meaning students whose learning is stimulated from visual and audio type devices such as television, radio, cell phone, colors, sounds, etc. In the near future every child will have a laptop or some portable device that will be a giver and a receiver of information. These aforementioned devices will replace books, pens, and create classrooms into a paperless society. The Epson LCD projector I received has begun my process from leaving the "stone age" and closer to the 21st Century.

You are a valued supporter of and your participation in this initiative is further evidence of that support. The assistance of individuals, like you, has enabled our school to accomplish far more than it otherwise could have. We look forward continuing to partner with you in educating our future.

On behalf of the parents, students, and staff I, thank you again. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lewis
