  • Putting On Your Listening Ears (Part 2)

    Thank you so much for helping to pay for such wonderful items for my classroom.

    Prior to receiving the additional twelve headsets with microphones, only half of my students could listen to anything on the computer during computer lab time. It was difficult to choose who would get to work with the headsets and who would not. Without headsets for all of the students to use to isolate the sound it was still too noisy for all students to concentrate.

    Thanks to your help students can now use the computers fully to research and create their projects. The headsets come with microphones that allow the students to record their thoughts about a subject. It is exciting to be able to use technology in the classroom.

    Students are much more focused and ready to learn when they have their headsets on. Thank you again for taking the time to be involved in your community. We really appreciate you.”

  • Telling Our Story: Editing Podcasts

    Thank you so much for helping my class receive two netbook computers. You should have seen the students' faces when I first brought them out. They were so excited to learn that they would have computers that we could use in the classroom ALL the time.

    The students have been using the computers in a variety of ways. First, they can use them to research information on the projects that they have to complete. Secondly, I have students taking their research and producing various outcomes. One group is creating a Podcast of Life in the Middle Ages from the point of view of the Serfs. They use the computer to record, edit and complete their podcasts. In addition, I have another group of students who are creating a PowerPoint presentation on the Church in the Middle Ages. They will be using the computers to research and create their PowerPoints. Finally I have a group of students who are using the computers to edit the movie that they are creating about the Life of the Knights during the Middle Ages. The students are very excited about the ability to create an outcome that goes beyond a report or poster.

    The most exciting part is that the students will change the type of project that they are working on for the next subject that I teach so that all students will get a chance to work on with the different types of technology. This is only available to my students because of your generosity.

    Again, I thank you for taking the time and the effort to donate to my classroom. My students thank you and their future employers thank you for the skills that they will be able to learn by having these netbooks in the classroom.”
