It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. Thank you so much for the contribution you made to our classroom. We use the Boardmaker program daily. In the pictures you can see examples of how we use the program. Some of the children have their own personal schedule, which we like to compare to a plan book for preschoolers. For one of our developmentally delayed children that is also an English Language Learner this has been a lifesaver, he is now learning language and able to use the schedule to increase his vocabulary. The children have their day organized so that they know what is coming next. For most of our students, we rely on the group schedule, the larger pictures go on our whiteboard so that the children know when our daily schedule is. Children are also holding word cards that we made for the housekeeping area which have the names of foods in the many languages represented in our classroom. Some of our families have shared the different words they use for foods at their house. Additionally, we use the program to make labels that we print out and place on our books so that the children can organize the books independently without needing someone to read the title to show them where the book belongs. I hope that you enjoy our pictures and see how the program is used in our classroom! ”
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful these items are for our classroom! The games have been both challenging and fun for the students. The "cheater dividers" (as we call them) have alleviated the need for putting up folders-that eventually fall down-to cover the kids' work. And we will be using the field trip tags next week when we go to see our first play!
It is people like you, people who truly believe in education, that make the lives of teachers and students so much better.
Thank you to all of the generous donations to our classroom! Our classroom has become a magical place filled with reading and excitement for learning. The children can't wait to finish reading one book before they explore a new one. They love using the puppets to act out the stories, retell the stories and interact with one another. They LOVE it! These book bags with puppets made it possible for so many of them to engage in literacy activities and actually enjoy it! I just had one child come up to me today asking, actually begging, me to come join him in the loft to read to him during playtime. WOW! Before these bookbags, the children thought only a teacher could read the stories but now with the puppets, they've begun to read the stories to me and each other since they now have a venue to express themselves. The children now see themselves as readers, which is a wonderful realization for a preschooler! Not only are the children in love with these new book bags but the parents are also coming to me and telling me how amazed they were with their story time at home- these bags are truly spreading the joy of reading from school to home! Thank you for your amazing contributions, which have changed our classroom and children in wonderful ways.”
My students and myself want to thank you so much for your kind donation. These new dictionaries have made a wonderful and motivating impact on our classroom.
Through the use of these new dictionaries, I have been able to incorporate weekly vocabulary lessons within my classroom. My students are juniors and are currently studying for the ACTs, where vocabulary is an important aspect. With your help, my students have become more independent because they are able to complete their worksheets on their own with the use of these dictionaries.
My students vocabulary, confidence, and independence has improved and we wouldn't have been able to do it without you. My students, myself, and my school thank you for your generous donation. ”
This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donations to my classroom. The new workbooks we received are great. We use them every day!! They have bright colors and pictures and are really motivating for the students. They even go out of their way to ask for them! The workbooks are not only fun and motivating, but I really notice that my students are learning new academic skills from them as well.
Our school is currently facing budget shortfalls, so without your help, receiving these vital materials would not have been possible. Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Deloya
