It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to my students trough Donors Choose! The materials I was able to purchase with your donation, the jump ropes and the CDs, were the few components of the "Not Just Gym!" kit that the children were looking forward to receive the most. The students learned different dances and listened to many songs during PE class throughout the year. To have a CD of their own with all their favorite songs to use at home whenever they want is one of the best gifts that they could have receive! Another one of their favorite physical activities is jumping rope. Many times after a jump rope lesson my students would ask me: "Ms. B, can I borrow a jump rope to practice the new trick at home?" Your donation has made it possible for 240 students to have a jump rope of their own which they can use at home and practice the skills learned at school.
Since many of our families are at or below the poverty level, jump ropes and CDs with dancing songs could sometimes be the only "toys" which encourage physical activity in the home! Therefore, your donation has made it possible for me to show my students and their families how invested I am in extending the Physical Education program from school to home and promoting the importance of exercise with the hope of instilling life-long healthy habits.
Although the program takes place mainly at home, I tried to capture some photographs of the students receiving the materials and using them while in school and I am hoping that they will give you an idea of the joy the Not Just Gym! program brought to them.
Thank you for helping me to make a positive impact on my student's health.”
I want to thank you all for your donations to my project. It is wonderful to see that you all care so much about the education of our children. In Kindergarten, learning to read is the most important step in setting the foundation for life-long learning.
The materials you have provided to my class are a valuable resource for my students not only this year but for many years to come. With these materials my students get to listen to and read stories that they would not have had the chance to experience otherwise. It has also expand their reading levels, vocabulary, and fluency.
Thank you again for your donations. We are excited about all the learning we are doing with our new materials!”
I wish I could have captured the moment when I told my children about the new net and other supplies to show to you. They were overjoyed! They were especially excited about the net, because it means that we are able to scrimmage now. We feel like a real team!
Every Tuesday, my kids line up at my door after school, vying for the chance to carrying the balls downstairs and get started with our practice. When the net arrived last week, they all banded together to help set it up. We were able to practice our serving in a realistic way, and play small games against each other. This is something that my children have been wanting all year. And YOU were the ones to make this possible. Thank you so much for that. The brand new balls, the bag to put them in, the whistle to help practice run more smoothly, and best of all the net are all key in helping our little volleyball club be as successful as it can be.
A lot of parents want a safe and fun place for their children to go after school. Volleyball provides this. The children are also learning the rules and skills that go along with the sport, while simultaneously working on social skills and playing fair. Also, it's simply good to have a place to run around, getting exercise and letting out their pent up energy at the end of the day. I am happy to provide this opportunity to my kids, and am so appreciative that you have helped me to do this.
On behalf of my whole club, I thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Harrison
