It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Scientific Americans

    Funded Feb 15, 2010

I would like to take this time to share my gratitude with you for your generous donation to my classroom. The Scientific Americans are a great help in meeting the standards set out for third grade science. The science kits available for my students' use at my school are quite old with several items missing. These books will be of great use to me and my students. The reading, projects and experiments that we will be able to accomplish will be the step forward we need to take.

My students are always excited when I say that it's time to do a science project. Because of the economic problems so many of us are dealing with, these exciting moments in science would not be able to happen without your kind help in getting the resources to us.

Without people like you the joy of learning with the new materials you have donated would be only a dream.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Vorberg

  • Support Materials For Insect Science Unit

    Funded Feb 5, 2010

I want to thank you for your generous gift. My school district provides for a bare bones science experience studying insects. I have had to supplement through the years with my own money to provide books and hands-on materials to make the learning of science come alive for my students.

With your gifts, my students are immersed in butterfly and insect science with books, music, science videos, puzzles, art supplies, and puppets! They love to learn from all of these hands-on activities. More importantly, I see them really understanding the material. They understand the life cycle, different kinds of butterflies, where they live, and how they are important to us. I see ecologists in the making! Three cheers for science!

Thanks again! You have made a difference in the lives of children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Robb

  • Bloom Where You are Planted...Bringing Our Garden Inside.

    Funded Apr 2, 2010

Many thanks for your generous donation to my classroom. The plant specimen slides, books and recycle sort are used daily by my students in our science center. Being able to work with these items indoors, within our classroom has really helped my students this spring in the garden and in our all school recycling program. They are quick on the plant bingo now! Because they have gained background knowledge from indoor/classroom hands-on examination, they are ready to better understand to how to work with plants in the garden, as well as tackle recycling around the school and at home.

The looks on my students' faces when the "big box" was brought in was priceless. Because many of them are living in poverty, this was a REALLY big deal to them. They truly have treated the materials as a treasured gift and have appreciated the opportunity to work with them. It is a joy to see their excitement as they make connections in their learning. Thank you so much for this! Without donors like you, my students' learning this year, not to mention my students for years to come, would not be as nearly rich. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shepard

  • Inspiring the Scientific Mind

    Funded Feb 8, 2010

Wow! I can't fully express the gratitude, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my students. Yeah! It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching out to our young scientists and inventors of the future.

The tools that you have funded will enable students to explore various areas of science. In addition, I will be able to fully demonstrate experiments, and allow my students to explore science through inquiry. We're off to one of our three field study trips this month! Students will be studying a local watershed's ecosystem and water quality. They will also participate in a community service activity at each visit. I can't believe the supplies will arrive in time for our first adventure!

Thank you so much. I can't wait to share this good news with my students tomorrow morning! ”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher
