Hello everyone. If you are reading this then you are probably aware that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids!!!
That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be doing my best to grow a sweet looking mustache, and I'll probably end up looking more like my old man than I ever thought possible. In order to justify this endeavor I NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Whether it's $2, $20, or $200, please take a moment to sponsor my mustache and support one of the Virginia school teachers in the list below (and don't forget the deduction when tax time comes around). Thanks so much and check back regularly for an updated picture! hide
Thank you so much for our new big books! My students were so excited to receive these new books.
Because of your kindness, this station, which was once filled with books that were ripped and/or falling apart, now has wonderful new books that the students love to read.
They are so protective of these new books. They love to sit (or stand) and read the stories to their peers. The pictures are colorful and its a wonderful way to get my students reading!
Thank you so much for supporting our busy classroom with new books for my students to enjoy! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cronk

Words cannot express how much your gift has impacted our classroom. From the moment the worms, ants, and praying mantis eggs sacs arrived, our room has buzzed with excitement. Your gift gave opportunities for the students to see worms emerge from cocoons, ants build tunnels, and hundreds of praying mantis nymphs emerge from two egg sacs. I know for a fact that none of these children had ever witnessed such miracles before, and seeing the curiosity and joy on the students faces as they peered through magnifying glasses to get a better look at the small creatures was incredible.
The living science center inspired the students to take part in taking observational notes (including sketches) and reading books to learn more about the insects and worms. They participated in feeding the ants, maintaining soil moisture for the worms, and witnessing praying mantis nymphs munch on fruit flies that were harvested in our classroom as well. On one memorable afternoon, the students released praying mantis nymphs into the wild. They understood that we were unable to take care of so many, so they gently took turns placing the small insects into our garden plot. That was one of my the most touching moments, as I could see just how much the students were attached to these insects.
Overall, I can honestly say that your gift of our living science center has created countless lifelong memories for my students, and it helped me achieve my goal of helping students have a greater appreciation of living things, no matter how small. I look forward to receiving the last of your gift, the caterpillars, next week. I know they, too, will provide even more hands-on experiences and memories for our classroom. Thank you again for your generosity. ”
From the bottom of my heart, my class and I thank you for this fabulous game! My students will use this game for many, many years. It is a blast, and they beg me to play it every day.
The last 9 weeks of school is all review, which can be pretty boring for bright students. Well, it isn't boring any more as students compete to get the answers correct. The joy these kids are getting from learning in all content areas is priceless. They honestly cannot wait to get to school and play the game again. This keeps me busy because I have to make the games for them, but it is well worth the effort. Thank you so much for making this happen for us!”
Thank you so much for the new science tools. We are so appreciative of your kind donations. We have been doing all kinds of fun science experiments. Thanks to you, my students have now been exposed to tools like the microscope. They feel like they are real scientist making discoveries right here in our own classroom. Without your help, this would not be possible.
Our school and city is currently going through budget cuts which does not allow us to provide our students with tools and resources that they need to learn new concepts. Thank you again for your generous donations and we will continue discovering new things with our tools.”
Thank you for your generous donation of Level K-Level O books for my students. It was great to return from winter break and have a wide variety of wonderful new books for my students to read. The kids are anxious to read all of the books. We have enjoyed reading some great stories in small groups such as Franklin Goes to School, Invisible Stanley, and The Mystery of Pirate Ghost.
I am excited to be able to spend more time planning instruction instead of searching each classroom and local libraries for titles my students will enjoy each week. The books you donated are being used by a variety of teachers at my school. Many students are benefiting from your generosity. Thank you for your donation. The books will be enjoyed by many students and teachers for many years to come.”
Thank you so much for your generosity. I can't tell you how much your donations have meant to my classroom. It has been inspiring to see how engaged my students have become while using the materials you provided for our class. During our electricity unit, the children actually were able to create series and parallel circuits and experiment with the use of a switch to understand open and closed circuits. Using the materials was so much more effective than worksheets and overheads in the teaching process. By the end of the day I knew my students had a working knowledge that would last long beyond the end of the unit. We have explored magnetism, electricity, and forces and motion so far, and they are in love with the activities. They are always asking when we can do another experiment, and I look forward to exploring all of the activities the tubs hold in store.
The Science Game Show review game has made test review a blast. They love playing the role of Game Show Host and are thrilled as they rack up points for correct answers. Competition has pushed them to study and prepare for our review sessions, and I have seen an increase in students' test scores. We also received Science Fair kits. Our Science Fair is next month, and the kits are helping to prepare the students for competition and to better understand the scientific method. Your gift has been a blessing to our classroom.
Thank you so much for believing in my project and helping it to become a reality. They say that teaching a child takes a village. Thank you for being a part of our village and helping to inspire the next generation. ”
Words cannot express how truly thankful I am for the new world that you have opened up to my students. My students are enjoying learning about science because they are getting to perform some wonderful experiments. Each day, I look forward to engaging their minds with a new science experiment and they look forward to trying to figure out the scientific process.
My students and I really enjoyed the Slime Experiment and being able to wear the Safety Goggles when they were doing it. The pride and joy in their eyes as they went step by step through the scientific process is something that I will never forget.
Through your help, my ability to teach science has also increased. In the data driven world of education, teaching hands on often takes a back seat to paper and pencil. With the many different experiments that I have received I will be able to teach my students without having to resort to paper and pencil.
Words cannot express the gratitude that myself and my students have for your generous donations. We were able to use the donations for a variety of science materials. This included a volcano kit, seasons game and puzzle, ocean animals, and various other manipulative's. The students were so excited to receive the box with our materials! They immediately wanted to use the materials and are very excited to watch the process of change from a caterpillar to a butterfly.
These materials are used everyday in our classroom, whether that be in the science center or as a whole group activity. As you can see from the pictures posted, the children really get very involved inn what they are doing. They are learning through these new materials and discovering their own hypothesis.
As an inner city school, we are so grateful to have such wonderful people, such as yourselves, to donate to our classroom. Our funds are low, but we deserve the best education! We are the future! Thank you so much!!!”
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donations to this project. It is still amazing to me that through the tough times people are having all throughout the world, there are still individuals willing to try and make a difference. It amazes me even more that my class and myself are lucky enough to be the recipients of your generosity.
The literacy materials provided with your help have already made a world of a difference with my children. Immediately upon arrival, we opened our materials as a class and the children's faces lit up with joy. The literacy boxes and activities have been used daily in class since that wonderful day! I have also prepared a sign-out sheet so that parents may take these wonderful activity kits home for a night to work with their children individually. My hope is that each child will not only get to learn more, but also get some special time with their families through these activities.
Thank you again for you generosity. You are not only helping to teach my students important literacy skills, you have also helped to teach them the importance of giving.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lee

I would like to thank you again for your amazing donation to Donors Choose and Project Art Appreciation! My students have loved opening the boxes of art reproductions that have arrived in the mail and they also loved looking through the beautiful images on the large posters!
Not only have we been looking at the art, we have been talking about it as we create our own art work. Recenty, we began a painting unit and I have many landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes posted throughout the room for the students to use as inspiration.
We have also been playing some fun art history games and making up songs to learn our art vocabulary. My first grade class made rhythms by clapping our hands to understand rhythm in art and we balanced on one foot to talk about balance in art.
The walls of the art room aren't so bare anymore and I am thrilled to have these new teaching tools in our art class.
Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Fought
