The students I teach come from low-income households and bring limited life experiece to the classroom. The study of geology could be brought to life with an inquiry based geology kit, that has 90% hands-on activities. My goal for these children is to bring science into their world in a fun, exciting and challenging manner. Students will be able to sort and classify rocks and minerals using various geology principles incuding the "Mohs Hardness Scale."The unit study of geology will cumlinate with a trip to an authentic mine in our area where they can see the mining process from start to finished products with indigenous rocks and minerals to our area. hide
