It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Kindergarten Basic Needs

    Funded Dec 31, 2009

Wow! We were really able to start this year off with a BANG! It was because we had all the materials we needed! Even before the first day of school, I was able to prepare my classroom using the materials that you have provided.

The jumbo crayons are so essential for kindergrtners who are just now working on their fine motor skills. I am already seeing an incredible difference in their handwriting abilities.

Also, the classroom looks beautiful. The students are learning just from looking around the room. I have the number people and color people put up over the cubbies and the children comment on them all the time.

I could not have done this without your support. Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bradley

  • Mini Mozart- Composers For The 21st Century

    Funded Dec 15, 2009

Thank you so much for your donations to our classroom. We are so excited that we get to use composition software to write our own music. Students have been looking for an outlet for their individual creativity and having the software and the technology in our district has really helped us to provide that outlook for students. The creating music software has helped students identify same and different melodic phrases and has helped students in creating their own music. Students love feeling as though they created something really special and now that they have this software available to them they ARE able to make something special and unique. ALL of my classes have enjoyed using the software and the composer books. We are getting a lot of use out of them and we are looking forward to making better student compositions in the future

    With gratitude,

  • Yoga In The Classroom

    Funded Dec 13, 2009

It means so much to me that you chose to help fund my project! As a yoga teacher, I truly believe that it is important to teach students coping skills though mind/body awareness. My students seemed much more confident in their test taking skills after learning breathe techniques and stress management skills. Your donation was very handy during ISAT testing too! My students and I especially liked the book of yoga poems. Now my students ask for yoga breaks instead of candy! Hopefully, I can start an after school yoga club next year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lord Stafford

  • Desperate Need for Technology

    Funded Dec 15, 2009

I hope you understand how much my students and myself appreciate your kindness. You have made an impact on us in so many ways. Not only do we have a classroom camera to cherish childhood memories but you have opened up a whole new discussion on kindness and generosity.

We have been able to use our camera in so many ways already. We have had 2 birthday celebrations that we were able to take pictures of. My students were so excited to take pictures and even more excited to add those pictures to their personal albums. These pictures are the first many of my students have of themselves and they love to look at them and share with others.

We will be able to use our camera as we come to many fun activities toward the end of the school year and for years to come. Thank you so much. You are truly cherished!

    Sincerely,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

  • Making Math Meaningful

    Funded Dec 1, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom! The calculators, clocks, hot dots and money stamps have helped us out tremendously. We use them not only to learn our math concepts, but to practice with them even when we have moved on to a new unit. Many students have even forgone other games during indoor recess in order to play with the manipulatives that you have donated to us!

I know that times are tough and money is tight, but your donations have given my students such hope. It means so much more than just math manipulatives. It means that there is someone out there who cares about them and wants to see them succeed.

Without generous people like you, my kids and many others like them would have to do without. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Davis

  • That Tile Floor Is Cold And Hard

    Funded Dec 17, 2009

There is a new favorite spot in my classroom: The library nook. It's amazing what a difference three pieces of furniture can make. Instead of just being two bookshelves, the library has defined boundaries formed by the shelves and the rug. Instead of a cold floor, students sit in comfortable bean bag chairs or on a plush, blue carpet. Instead of looking like an after-thought, the stuffed animals look like they belong there, read to listen to a story. Our new library area invites students in to curl up with a good book.

Our new library furniture has also helped me reward my students for their accomplishments in the classroom. In addition to free computer time or a homework pass, I am now able to reward students with "bean bag certificates," which give them 15 minutes of time to spend doing their work in a bean bag chair.

I often have students tell me at the end of our school day that time has gone by so fast, they can't believe it's time to go home, nor do they want to go home. Living as many of my students do with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents in addition to their own immediate family, they don't often have the quiet time they need to read. I am now able to provide that in an inviting setting.

Thank you so much for helping me create something I have envisioned for years, but have not had the personal funds to provide.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ptak
