  • Keep Us Learning!

    Funded Apr 22, 2011

You guys are amazing! I can't say thank you enough times! My students were so excited to learn that we were going to be getting enough materials so they can do more project based learning! We have already begun using the items and they have helped my students gain a much deeper understanding of the concept material we have been learning!

The glue and scissors have allowed us to create items such as gallon man to help my students understand capacity conversions. The crayons and colored pencils are being used in a classroom wide project on Oceanography! I love that my students are able to show their creative side when showing what they know, and I have you guys to thank for that!

Thanks again for putting essential items into my students' hands!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Harveycutter

  • Orchestra Bowing is Slowing

    Funded Apr 2, 2011

I could never thank you enough for the generous contribution you have given to me, my students and the school! The donated bows were such a hit with the musicians that they couldn't wait to get one in their hand. Many of them had never even used a brand-new bow, so this gave them a boost of confidence before the big Spring Concert.

With recent budget cuts across the state I don't know what my kids (students) would have done without you! This has brought a completely new light to the classroom and passion to every student. These bows should allow hundreds of incoming students the chance to try these instruments for their own, and hopefully continue the music tradition of our school.

Thank you for everything that you have done! You will never understand how much this means to all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bowser

  • Dramatic Play Needs More Drama!

    Funded Mar 31, 2011

We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations to our project. The new kitchen arrived in just days and the children were playing with it immediately! Right away the impact of the new item was obvious in our room. It makes our "Playhouse" area so much more inviting and exciting for the students. They are able to use it in much more realistic ways, such as using the microwave and putting dishes in the oven to "cook." Something I did not expect was that they are able to practice their numbers when pushing the buttons on the microwave, which I saw a number of children doing right away!

Your donation is very much appreciated in our classroom. This is something that I would have had no other way to replace and your generous donations made it happen! Thank you so much, from all of us in the preschool!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Macias

  • Refusing To Be "Left Behind"

    Funded Mar 31, 2011

    Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to tell you how the items you all contributed to my class were a BIG hit. The boys loved them. It was such a trill to know that I could hardly keep the new books-on-tape on my shelves because someone was always waiting. It even became frustrating until I realized that I had a multiple hook-up connector at my disposal. Life became wonderful after that. I am most thankful, however, for the books-on-tape because they allowed all of my SLD students to participate even more in our Accelerated Reader program. Having the text read to them allowed them to free up their thinking so that they could focus on the comprehension of the text. Thus, they were able to answer the test questions with ease.

My classroom continues to become more exciting and engaging each time I received a package from Donor's Choose. I even have students from other classrooms asking if they can move to my class. It's a wonderful feeling and it is all happening because of you. I thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Artis

  • Kindergarten Kingdom Writing and Recording Memories!

    Funded Mar 26, 2011

WOW! Thanks so much for helping us achieve one of our kindergarten dreams this year ! The children are enjoying learning to use our new camera to video our production of The Three Little Pigs! The children think it is so cool to actually video their friends as they act out this classic fairy tale. It all started a few weeks ago when we began our book study of the classic fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs. We began by reading the many different versions of The Three Little Pigs. We then decided to write our own version of the story to present to our school mates.

This week we put on our simple costumes...pink shirts, wolf ears, and such as we began to perform our version of The Three Little Pigs to our friends and family members. It is exciting to watch our friends and record it on our flip camera so we can replay it and watch it! We could never have had this experience without your help! Thank you!!!

Now that we are learning to use the cameras the world is at our fingertips. We hope to video our Author's Tea and End of the Year Celebration next week so we can watch it on the last days of school. We also hope to make videos to tell the rising kindergartners what to expect next year in kindergarten. Thanks for opening the world of recording to us...now we have unlimited possibilities at our fingertips! Thank you!!!”

  • A View of College Readiness

    Funded Mar 8, 2011

Thank you for for you investment in the future of my students.

With this projector, we will be creating a full-time slide show to give students regular information about colleges, including such information as requirements for specific college admissions, cost of attending, and potential majors from that school. We also intend to include study skills for students to use to become academically stronger, as well as character building information to develop stronger citizens.

None of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you for helping! ”

  • Budding Pianists Need a Little Quiet Time

    Funded Apr 25, 2011

Thank you all for your generous donations to our project, "Budding Pianists Need a Little Quiet Time." I am overwhelmed and very happy to see how many people out there value music education.

With your help, we will be able to purchase the headphones which will then enable each student to have individual practice time on the piano. Not only do the students love to play, but they learn a great deal in their exploration of the instrument.

Thanks again for making a difference in these students' lives. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tarbox

  • Artistic Endeavors

    Funded Mar 31, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The supplies arrived just in time to be used before the end of the school year. We have used glitter glue to embellish sculptural creatures, shaping scissors to add texture to collages, and yarn to create beautiful woven tapestries.

Both students and myself LOVE our commercial pencil sharpener. Thanks to you we no longer have to battle with plastic hand held sharpeners and always have perfectly sharp colored pencils.

Having access to a variety of novel materials has helped to encourage, inspire, and motivate students in their artistic endeavors. They have been provided with a variety of art experiences from which to learn and grow from.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hazari

  • Fantastic First Graders Need Leveled Books =)

    Funded Mar 31, 2011

Thank you all so much for helping complete this amazing project! My students LOVE their new non-fiction leveled books. I wish you could had seen their faces when the big boxes came into the classroom. They were amazed! Now every child in my classroom has books to read at their own level.

My students love reading these books because they are about 'real' things. We did not have many nonfiction books and the ones we had were at such a high reading level.

Thanks again for making a difference in the lives of amazing first grade students. Not only did you help improve their reading levels, but in years to come these books will helps hundreds of students. ”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Where Can I Find The Recorded Books, Letters And Board...?

    Funded Apr 1, 2011

By this means I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my project. My students already knew about Donors Choose and the wonderful things donors do through them by giving money; so when I told them that we had another project funded and that we had some more things coming because of the generous donors they were excited. I will start by informing you that the storage cubby has helped immensely in organizing the classroom and making resources available to my students. The manipulatives, books, paper, glue, scissors, magnetic letters and boards are at the tip of my student's fingers. What about our set of Fairy Tales with CD's? The students engaged in a Literature Study of Fairy Tales in preparation of the Fairy Tale Bowl we will have to wrap the year. They have learned so much about fairy tale elements and have had so much fun while doing so. What a great piece to have available! Struggling to find ideas to write has become something of the pass with our Writing Process Folder. The folder has a huge list of topics to write about along with a list of misspelled words and the steps of the writing process. It also gives students privacy and isolates them in their own little space so that they can stay focused. The magnetic story boards have given students an additional opportunity to become story writers. Each and every book and piece that we received through this project has helped my students improve their performance one way or another. I am pleased that the world has people like you who care for education and gave us a chance.

A million thanks to each one of you for helping my students come one step closer to their educational goal. The world would be so much more difficult without generous people like you. Thanks for making a difference with my students.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lugo-Oliveras
