It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. I want to thank you on behalf of all my students for the wonderful books you provided for our classroom. The children have been reading their new books and were able to produce wonderful end of the year projects. This was the first time they could relate to the books and even the most reluctant readers could not put their books down. I am personally very thankful for the set of study skills books that were funded. They were an excellent tool to use with my middle school students. The students were able to apply these skills and use them throughout their classes. Thank you again for your generosity! The children and I are so appreciative of what you have provided and the books will defiantly be used for years to come. ”
I can not thank you enough for the generous gift you have given to my wonderful students! They enjoy the new math activities each day during our math workshop time. I am now able to work with one group of students on a skill while the other small groups work with the materials that you so kindly provided. You have also unknowingly provided the students with the gift of "the kindness of a stranger". They can not believe that someone that do not know has given them a fun, educational gift when some do not even receive this from their own family.
Thank you again for supporting our classroom and donors choose!
I really appreciate your help and support in funding my project "Understanding Simple Machines Isn't Simple". The children have been so excited to explore the many different simple machines. They seem fascinated to learn how each one works! One of the kits we received allows the children to make simple machines independently.
The favorite machines so far have been the pendulum and the inclined plane. We did an experiment with both machines using homemade objects and materials. For example, the boys and girls timed how fast matchbook cars traveled when released from different heights on an inclined plane. We also measured the distance the pendulum swung using different lengths of cord. Several children have told me they are doing similar experiments at home.
Thank you so much for helping us get real examples of these simple machines. Your help has made it possible to begin creating a lifelong love of science in many of the children.”
Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts you sent to our classroom. My students love to read and love math, so this gift was so appreciated.
I have been able to read my students books about fractions, division and measuring. When I read them a book, they are able to see how people use the skill in real life. They are able to make connections to what they have seen Mom do before or that you will use measurement when building things. They can see a purpose for learning the math skills I am required to teach.
Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. ”
Your generous donation to our class does not go unused. Everyday we use the projector. It is a very versatile item. We use it for our Promethean board activities. We projector literature books with it. This makes the print large enough for everyone to see. We use it for teaching math. Promethean planet has 1000's of usable flipcharts that let the students interact with math and math concepts. We use it to watch educational and quality family videos for instruction and for pleasure. We went on a fieldtrip to the aquarium. We created a video of our trip. We watched the video using the projector. My students are pleased everyday with every use of the projector. They love it as much as I do. Thank you and your families for the generous donation. It is a wonderful gift to a very active group of first graders.”
Thank you so much! You have made this project a reality for the students. They are enjoying the many hands-on math activities; I am enjoying the fun learning that they are engaging in.
Truly, it is such a joy to see the enthusiasm in their eyes as they solve math problems using the math manipulatives. The students are often turned off and tuned out by math worksheets, dittos, and drills. With the "Measurement Center" and the "Building Fractions Magnetic Board", the students partner-share to work out math problems. They have learned lots of key words and strategies to use from the "Problem Solving Chart". Also, the "Giant Magnetic Place Value Blocks" are a great visual that the students often refer to when they need a quick reminder about number placement.
Once again, I thank you. You have helped so many students get that hands-on help that they so desperately need.
Whew! We finally made it through the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) and I am happy to report that that each student put his or her best foot forward and did not give up. They made me very proud. Your gifts made the testing process so much easier to get through and supported my students tremendously, both before and during testing. Since we returned from Winter Break, all our teachers have been focused on preparing for the MSA. When the blizzards closed our school for over 10 days, test preparation became even more all-consuming since we lost so much time and the students were even more unfocused. Luckily, the educational games were available for us to decompress from the pressures of studying while still practicing important reading comprehension and math skills. After testing, playing the games allowed them to relax and learn at the same time. As a teacher it was a blessing to be able to offer my students a "break" from the rigors of test prep without sacrificing instruction.
All the games are wonderful, but he ATM and shopping-themed games are the most popular (the future of capitalism thrives). It constantly amazes me how much the students love to play the games and do not complain that they require thinking. (Usually, they are very quick to call me out on any "hidden" agendas I might have during an activity.) They have shown great responsibility for the games, too. So far, I have not lost a piece (an amazing feat)! Thank you so much for your generosity and support. It is always such a morale boost for me to experience how much people are eager to help the public school systems. I hope the pictures I post can convey the joy your gift brings every time we use them. ”
Thank you very much for supporting my project entitled, Puzzles, Please! My students thoroughly enjoy working on the puzzles that you have purchased for us. Every day, the children work in small groups to complete the floor puzzles. At first, they were apprehensive about putting together 30 piece puzzles, but now they are pro's. They challenge each other. They cheer each other on. And most of all, they work together solving problems. I am so proud of each and every one of them.
We also enjoy the smaller wooden puzzles each Wednesday morning as a part of our "Morning Mania" activity. I place the puzzles on the individual tables and allow the children to work on them individually or with a partner. The students love Wednesday mornings. They get such a feeling of accomplishment as they complete each puzzle.
Thank you again for supporting my classroom and helping to increase the problem-solving abilities of my students. You are the best!!!”
Thank you so much for you generous donation to my classroom. The math supplies you donated help my students strengthen their math skills on a daily basis. With the daily math station and the geometry manipulatives, my students are able to reinforce taught skills. My students are working hard and having fun at the same time. The support that these resources provide make it effortless for the students to drill and prepare for the math MSA.
As you know, school budgets are tight this year, so without your assistance, my students would never have had the opportunity to use these essential resources. All of my students, from the remedial to the advanced can and are benefiting from these hands-on math activities.
Once again, thank you for your thoughtfulness and kindness.”
I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful donations to our classroom! Your generosity is amazing and teaches my students a lesson. Through this gift, they see that people believe in them and their potential to succeed.
When the box came to our class, the students' eyes lit up! I had kept them up-to-date with my project proposals and with each donation as it came in, so they knew what the box meant. As I pulled out each box of blocks, they could not believe it! Our morning instruction got a little off track, because of course we could not wait to dig in. I must admit, I was very impressed with the creativity of my students. I have not had the opportunity to see them work with building blocks this year, except for a few foam blocks I was able to scrounge up, so I didn't know how they would do with the various building materials they now have. They astounded me! I had castles at the Lego table, 3-headed rainbow creatures at the Creature Builders table, and amazing rocket ships at the Crystal Builders table. Children I had never seen choose the block area before were making amazing creations and loving every minute of it. What an amazing experience for them! The creativity continues each morning as they are allowed to choose blocks as their arrival activity and each afternoon during exploration time. The block center is now always the first to fill up!
I never could have provided these experiences to my students without your donations. You have truly made a difference in my classroom and in the students' learning experiences. These materials have made me a better teacher and have made my classroom a very child-friendly learning environment. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Matthews
