Thank you so much for donating to Music Moves Minds. My students love our new Dr. Jean CDs. Their favorite song is the Tooty-Ta. When we need a "brain break", we put on Dr. Jean for a little silly time. We sing and dance together. Then, the students reenter their assignments refreshed and ready to learn. We also enjoy the songs that correlate with what we are learning. They love Dr. Jean's song about the planets. We used that one during our recent space unit! I love using her website to learn movements to the songs that I teach to my students. Students learn so much more when they are up moving. Dr. Jean allows us to get up and move. We get to sing too which is great for my auditory learners. These wonderful CDs enhance learning for all styles of learners. They are great for students of all ages too. We have shared our new treasures with several other classes in our building. Everyone loves Dr. Jean! We especially have enjoyed having them on rainy spring days. When we can't go outside for recess, Dr. Jean comes to the rescue! Even on a cloudy day, students' faces light up!

I appreciate you all so much for your generous donations to my project. The CD player that was purchased is used every single day. We use it for aerobics, line dancing, and as a background for any physical education activity in the gym. It is utilized by all of my students, from Pre-K to 5th grade.

Our school district is currently facing a huge budget deficit, so without your help, my students would not have experienced this enhancement to their physical education and the constant battle against childhood obesity.

Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without. ”

I was so touched by your generous donation to our school.  Art is usually the first subject that is dropped when there are budget cuts, but painting is what inspires many of our students.  One of the teachers at my school site decided that our students need more enrichment and has asked other staff members to start clubs after school.  

When I asked my former students what they wanted to do, they all asked for painting.  Most of them have only used cheap watercolor paints, so using real acrylic paints and canvas boards will be an entirely new experience for them.  I hope that the students in our school will cultivate an early love of art that they will keep with them for the rest of their lives.”

Thank you very much for your donations to my project! When I explained to the students that the new cameras came from people who had never met them, they were incredulous. One student wrote that you should be "awarded and praised" for your generosity, and I agree. You did a remarkable thing for these students, showing them that complete strangers care about them.

This is my school's first Yearbook Club, and I have been impressed with how seriously the students have taken their new responsibility. They want to truly document the important events of the year, not just take pictures of their friends. So far, the Yearbook students have used the new cameras to take pictures of a soccer game, our First Quarter Awards Ceremony, a field trip to the National Postal Museum, our school's pet snake and turtles, and a sleepover at the school. The kids are eager to take pictures of exciting lessons, the basketball team, upcoming dances and celebrations, as well as official pictures of each homeroom.

In the past couple of weeks, as we have begun editing our growing collection of photos, they have objectively evaluated the pictures, regardless of who is in them. For middle-schoolers, typically so self-centered, this is an impressive accomplishment. I wasn't sure what to expect as a first-time sponsor of Yearbook, so I am proud of how the students have stepped up to the challenge of producing a yearbook. It is invigorating to see how well kids respond when you give them ownership of a project.
