I am extremely grateful for your support in helping my students achieve their educational endeavors. It is very heart warming to know that people genuinely care about the education of students like mine. The books we have received are wonderful learning resources. With your support you have brought literature into the hands of eager students who truly care about their education. It is amazing to know that something as simple as books can bring smiles and learning.
My students and I are honored and amazed to have received your support. We are genuinely thankful and we want you all to know that these books have been a great addition to our growing classroom library.”
The students couldn't contain their excitement the day the box of books arrived in our classroom. They love books and have read many of the old classroom books already. They were eager for new books to read. As I showed them the new books for the classroom library, their energy level grew. There were many " I want to read that one first!" and "I never heard of that one before." They read the new books and are still reading them today. You have provided my students with new books that they haven't read before and have become new favorites. These books will not only reached this year's students, but will reach many more.”
The books you have sent have encouraged my readers to absolutely "devour" a set of great fiction stories while being a part of a special "book club." Our school library has a couple of each of these titles, but they are shared school-wide. With your donation, these books only had to be shared between members of the Soaring Hawks Book Club.
My expectation was that each of the students each become "experts" on three of the titles you sent, (dividing the whole set among the students), given the time frame in which we had to operate. To my delight, almost every one of the students read above and beyond that minimum, with two of the students reading ten each! They were so enthusiastic about their books, I had them create "book sell" posters to hang around the room to advertise the books to their peers, further encouraging other students to pick up one of these titles. During the club meetings, we enjoyed some lively discussions about the books, in which students were able to connect intellectually and emotionally with the events in the stories.
Without your donation, my students would not have had these books at their fingertips. And while they probably would have been reading a book of some sort during this time period, they really went above and beyond what they normally would have read, and were absolutely absorbed by every story in that box!
Thank you for helping me instill in my students a love for reading--for life!
Thank you so much for your generous donation! The books that you donated will help the students in our book club for years to come. Already I have had students use them to find new and interesting things to read and discuss for our book club.
Every year, our school has a very tight budget, and something extra like book club books would not have funding without your generosity. Although this is the first official year for our book club, we had a very successful year, and we have some voracious readers that constantly need new things to read. These books will not only give individuals news books to read, but we will be able to read them together as a book club and discuss them, which is a skill for lifelong learning.
Without donors like you, classrooms and libraries throughout the country would go without these "extras" that really go the extra mile for our kids.”
Thank you all so much for your generous donations. My students absolutely love our collection of new books! I have read several of the books to them in class and they beg me to take the books home to show their families. They are so excited about reading and the new books are so nice and shiny (as one student said in class).
Thank you for your support of public education and literacy for all students. My students are so eager to have new materials and we will continue to make good use of them every school year in my classroom.”
I am very grateful for your generous donation of books for my kindergarten classroom. The books were very well received. The girls sighed when they saw the puppy books. The boys were very excited about the monster, car, and animal books. Overall, they really enjoyed opening the books and reading during our book party. Even now, those books are still the popular ones to read. We have been enjoying reading each one at the end of the day.
An unexpected outcome is that the boys have wanted to copy the author's writing style on cars. They have been writing car and airplane books in the style of the author. It has brought me great joy and pride when I see my kindergarten students excelling in reading and writing.
I really appreciate your contribution from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for giving my students and their parents an opportunity to love reading and learn. Teaching in a bilingual class, I have experienced how hard it is to find materials for my students and parents in their language. With your help, I have been able to provide these children with quality books in their language. Thank you!”
Every pencil in our room is sharpened! My students are thrilled with their new pencil sharpener. We came back from a field trip and found the box with the sharpener inside. My students jumped up and down with delight. It was the talk of the classroom for days.
Each child got to sharpen their colored pencils and lead pencils to a perfect point. There are no more complaints about "pencils not writing" and the children are able to use any colored pencil they want without having to switch to a crayon because the pencil sharpener has over heated. I have also found that the new sharpener is saving me time by having to take all my pencils to another teachers room to sharpen.
With budget cuts to education, I could not afford to buy a heavy duty pencil sharpener out of my $100.00 a year supply budget. Thanks to you, my students can get a great point on their pencils and are happily writing in their reflection journals, doing math or reading work, and coloring with no complications. I truly appreciate your help in getting this project funded. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hester
