You've heard about it from me every year for the last four years, it'€™s the annual Mustaches For Kids challenge. Wanting to participate as usual, but also wanting do something a little different this year, I decided to consult some of our cosmetology students. So I went to Carver Vocational-Technical High School and became one of their clients. View this video and the new me. • 5th Grade Reading Level Library - Reaching All Learners

    Funded Dec 31, 2012

Words cannot express how excited my students were when they opened the books. I couldn't label the books fast enough as my students started reading immediately. My struggling readers were so happy to see books on their level. They shared different information with me about all the material they were able to read on their own reading level.

As a teacher in Baltimore City, I often have issues with finding funding for my students to receive pertinent materials that other school systems easily can obtain. Your help with this project was so needed and we are all so thankful for all you have done.

Thank you again for taking the time to invest in the future of my 5th grade class. We will never forgot your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chambers

  • Rising Stars Need Technology to Become Savvy Scholars

    Funded Oct 25, 2012

Thank you so much!! My students and I have benefitted soo much from your generousity. At first they had a hard time believing that people who didn't even know them would give to our classroom. I explained to them that there are many good people in the world like you all.

With the technology your donations allowed me to purchase my students have been able to create presentations, share them with their classmates, and watch educational programs that accompany our curriculum.

Again thank you for helping my students become Savvy Scholars. If you look at some of our pictures you will see that the technology also allowed me to introduce a little comedy into our class. Have a wonderful day and thanks again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Moving Ms. W.'s Special Agents into the Technology Age

    Funded Nov 27, 2012

Thank you so much for your generosity. The projector has helped not only bring the Internet into my classroom, but also has caused some positives that I did not consider previously. The projector has become a behavior management tool.

The students love the job of projector manager. The projector manager is in control of the projector remote which allows them to turn the projector on and off, zoom in to make portions on the screen larger, and even freeze frame. The students want the job so badly that they walk up the steps and quickly get started on their DO NOW activity so that they may be picked.

Students who have vision problems appreciate the projector because it is easier to see than chalk on a board or markers on a chart. The projector has also helped me to make concepts come to life. For example we are currently learning geometry and students were able to get a real life image of the famous pyramids in Egypt. We are also able to engage in fun computer activities as a class like jeopardy, math madness, and jelly golf that helps practice math. Soon we will embark on a letter writing project where we will write to students in each of the 50 states to learn what their lives are like, and share our experiences with them. With your gift of a projector I will be able to show them images of the places their letters are being sent by using Google maps and other websites.

Once again thank you for your gift. It has helped students to see, practice, and explore.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wiggins

  • Reading Ready First Graders

    Funded Oct 25, 2012

Watching students become engaged in reading is one of the most rewarding experiences a teacher can have. With the audio books, students who do not usually have the opportunity to hear books read aloud are now able to hear examples of fluent reading and have access to books that are above their reading level. Students are becoming more engaged in their reading now that they are listening to books read aloud to them.

We are continuously grateful for your donation to our classroom as first graders continue to grow their love of reading.

We truly could not have accomplished this without you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Giles

  • Supplying Student Minds

    Funded Nov 27, 2012

I am so grateful in our science classroom that you chose to donate money to help supply us with some of the essential tools we need to learn. It seems like a no-brainer that classrooms should have some basic paper and coloring utensils in order to help engage students in the work their doing as well as best reach students who have different learning styles. However, despite the best efforts of everyone involved it can often be difficult to even ensure that students will have these.

Thank you for the way you are choosing to be involved in education of these students that you do not know and will likely never meet. We have already done projects relating to cell diagrams and thermodynamic interactions using these coloring utensils to highlight the portions we are trying to learn. I have seen students' learning increase as they are able to utilize more of their brains in the process of gaining new knowledge.

I can not fully express how much you donors, and all of the donors on DonorsChoose, aid teachers every time you donate! Thank you again so much for helping me be a better teacher and better reach my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quigley

  • Up Close and Guided Reading III

    Funded Nov 27, 2012

My deepest thank you for the materials you helped purchase for our classroom. My focus with my students this school year has been on using non-fiction text. The books that you helped purchase met this goal as well as providing students with books which are "just right" for their reading ability.

Throughout this year and future school years I know these books will be used by students and will spark interest in many topics. The students in my class are always bringing facts they learned from the books up in class and sharing with others.

Through your support and generosity, you have provided my students with materials which support their individual learning needs and have fostered a desire to learn more.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ensor

  • Invest In Our Children!

    Funded Dec 14, 2012

You have no idea how your gift has impacted my students. As you already know, my students come to school every day with various needs and behaviors. Trying to meet everyone's needs with limited resources is difficult to say the least. When a child has sensory integration issues it impacts everything they do in the classroom. Since these children are seeking sensory input, they may run, jump, hop and skip all over the classroom in order to find what they are looking for. I have had problems keeping my kids calm and contained because of their sensory issues. Ever since I received the weighted vest from you my classroom has become calm and learning focused. The kids are really getting the maximum from my instruction since they are now able to sit and remain focused for normal amounts of time. I can't thank you enough for helping my students reach their potential.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Katz

  • We Need a Classroom Rug!

    Funded Oct 29, 2012

I cannot thank you enough for your contribution to my Donors Choose Project "We Need a Classroom Rug!" Your donations to my 4th grade classroom have completely changed the way the students are able to learn. We come together daily in a shared rug space that has fostered a feeling of community and partnership. Students have become familiar with routines that enable us to get them organized in different groups using the rug's color block feature. All students have their own space due to the clear, and understandable boundaries of the squares.

Additionally, the rug has become the central focus for the classroom's reading time. Students are able to gain clear access into an open library, and have room to get comfortable while they read. Let's be honest, who really wants to sit in the hallway floor or upright in a plastic chair while sustaining lengthy periods of silent reading? Not me, or my students! They have taken full advantage of being able to lay down, lean against surrounding walls, and stretch out of the confines of their desks. None of this would have been possible without your donations and the completion of the project I posted. I am forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

  • It's Not Fair!

    Funded Dec 8, 2012

I really appreciate all your donations. The children are so thrilled with their kitchen. It's all of the children's first choice. They are learning so much by playing with it. We have used the kitchen to discuss healthy food and the children have been practicing social skills like turn taking and sharing.

Without your donations it would have been years before we got a kitchen set if ever. The social skills the children are developing as they play in the kitchen center are invaluable to their success in school. Thank you again for your generosity! The children and I are very grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gilmore

  • P-P-Paper For Ms. P!

    Funded Nov 3, 2012

I am truly stunned and uplifted by your donation. To see that my project had been fully funded by someone who is so passionate about education - enough to fund someone whom they do not know personally - is an inspiration. I cannot wait for my students to have the opportunity to use these materials to create their projects and continue their exploration of social studies, history, and geography in my classroom.

I have been telling my friends, family and colleagues about my Donorschoose Angel. Thank you so much for your generosity. It will not be forgotten.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Padder
