Last year Lands' End sponsored a Kids' Holiday Art Contest; youngsters in three age groups sent in their work, with the theme "See the holidays through kids' eyes." The winning artwork is featured on these cards, and we think they are a great alternative to traditional Christmas cards. Hello! In a world that is now moving towards teaching more with sophisticated methods such as incorporating a variety of technology, I wanted to introduce my students to this pedagogy. Our school is currently facing budgetcuts in staff, resources, and materials so without your donation, my students would never have the opportunity to have a chance to use this type of technology.
I want to appreciate your generous donation to my classroom. The Flip camera that you donated helped my students document most of their every day activities. We used the camera to capture our field trips, students' presentation, and classroom activities. My students were very excited and enthusiastic about using the camera and seeing themselves on film. They are anticipating on seeing different clips of the year and seeing their academic and behavioral growth during our end-of-the-year party. In the future, hopefully, they will think about being a film director or work in any occupation that deals with technology.
Once again, thank you for your donation and without you, students like mine will never experience seeing their growth on film and being part of the wonderful world of technology. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nocedal

On behalf of my second graders, thank you again for your donation of colorful and kid-friendly digital cameras to our class. You should have seen the looks on my students' faces when the cameras were unveiled! My students love this technology addition and are incredibly appreciative of the continued generosity from you and other DonorsChoose.org patrons.
Digital cameras are a wonderful resource to have in an early childhood classroom. So far we have digitally documented science experiments, a poetry celebration, and a field trip to a local museum on them. In February, we learned about Helen Keller and made sign language flashcards of the alphabet by taking photos of our hands with these cameras! In the next few weeks, we are going to start seriously gearing up for our annual student art gallery in June. These cameras will not only document the art making process but also be used to take photographs that will be featured during the event itself. Thank you so much for making all of these things possible!
IPods, cell phones, digital cameras, and all those other handheld electronic devices have become a part of our everyday lives, yet my students have little first-hand knowledge of how to actually use them. I have made it my priority to not only teach my students how to use the cameras themselves but to also teach them how to upload photos to the single classroom computer and change the background of the screen to a selected photo. These little things that you and I can almost automatically do are not as easy for a classroom of second graders who are growing up in the digital age with very little access to technology. Your donation has helped to increase their exposure to technology in ways beyond just the cameras.
Thank you again for providing the class with these digital cameras. My current group of second graders' quality of education (not to mention many future groups!) has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. ”

Often, I can't believe the generosity of my friends, family, and those who work in my own field. I know every name on this list of donors and that makes me proud. This feeling makes my heart grow THIS BIG! (arms outstretched)----this is what I tell my kids when they do something to make Ms. Killacky really happy :)...
But really, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generous donations to our school this year. The clay arrived promptly after receiving the grant and while we used some of the material for small pinch pots we made at the end of November, we are saving most of it for a very special end of the year 3-D animal sculpture project. My students can't wait to get their hands on it...clay...REAL clay. They've been working with Crayola Model Magic and similar materials throughout the year, but they know that real clay is what "artists" use.
Thank you for giving money so that our students can really feel (and mold and squish and coil and flatten) how we make sculpture art. You are truly awesome.”

I cannot begin to describe the EXCITEMENT our boxes of brand-new arts and crafts materials generated in my classroom. The children were thrilled to receive such an amazing gift. These supplies have totally regenerated our classroom and given us plenty of the ZEST we were looking for! Your donation has released a wave of imaginative creativity in my students.
Every single piece of felt and strand of yarn from this grant was received with delight and enthusiasm. Since the arrival of the materials they have been avidly pored over every time we get our designing and making hats on! Our Ugly Dolls project is now complete and I wish you could see the display of the finished product - they are so sweet and funny and ... WELL MADE! It has been simply wonderful to also have our resources rejuvenated through your generosity. Wow! We are now beginning to weave and this is enormous fun to be around – thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and inspiration!
Thank you so much for your commitment to excellence and your desire to ignite/renew a passion for textiles and the arts in my lovely Fourth Graders. We appreciate you hugely!”

My students and I greatly appreciate your generous donation to our classroom. We have enjoyed having an electric pencil sharpener that actually works in our classroom and not worry about how we are going to sharpen our pencils to complete our assignments.
It's truly amazing how much work we can accomplish when we no longer worry bout where or how we are going to sharpen our pencils. The students are always waiting in a line to sharpen their pencils.
We have also enjoyed our color pencils too. The pictures and posters the students have made has had a tremendous impact on their creativity.
Thank you all so much:)”

I truly appreciate you taking time out to view this grant! The books purchased with your donation are continuously a wonderful addition to our classroom. The students use them to get inspired, help them view images to draw new things and if they finish early they love going to view the books! You are a big part of this and words can't express how much you have made a difference in the lives of my students! These children love to read and do art so what better combo then to have access to both in the classroom!
Thanks again and continue your wonderful efforts!”

We are all extremely grateful for your donation. It has allowed my students the opportunity to work with the wonderful medium of yarn to learn about weaving. The children were so excited seeing all the variety of colors they were able to choose from. The 3rd grade baskets turned out beautifully as did the 4th grade coasters. My students had so much fun weaving!
My 3rd grade students had the opportunity to learn many valuable lessons. They discussed Native American basket weaving traditions, from the Washoe of Nevada, to the Inupiat of Alaska. Then, they created woven baskets by weaving yarn into flaps of a cup. They learned valuable life skills as well. For instance, they learned persistence, patience, and how to tie knots. Some of my students enjoyed weaving so much that they brought me some projects they had worked on at home!
My 4th grade students learned several lessons as well. They learned about the Navajo and their blanket weaving traditions. The children created their own looms from poster board, and learned key weaving vocabulary like warp and weft threads. They wove their beautiful coasters with the fantastic yarn you provided us.
Thank you again for your support. I am extremely grateful that there are people like all of you in this world that value art and help support it. The children need to have an opportunity to be creative and be proud of what they have achieved. You have given my students the opportunity to learn something new, and it has inspired some of them to continue weaving.”

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. I, and my students, sincerely appreciate your kindness.
When you start a club in an inner city school, there is no funding given by the school for that club. When I started the yearbook club, we used my personal digital camera, which was fine, until it broke. We were then unable to take any pictures to add to the yearbook, which made the yearbook look very junky. Thanks to your donation of a brand new digital camera, we are now able to add pictures and edit them on our own!”

Thanks so much for the glazes! Your generosity has afforded my students to have many, luscious options when they're finishing their ceramic art. The colors and quality of the glazes is exactly what I hoped for. Our shelves are truly re-stocked for a long time to come.
In this era of crisis in funding for public education, your support is particularly appreciated and essential. The example you set is a valuable lesson for my students to learn from. They're touched and surprised to receive a donation/support from a source that doesn't know them directly. I'm certain this kind of positive impression will shape them as they grow.”

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our art classrooms. The students art work is being stored and will be scanned for their portfolios to submit to colleges with their applications. We really appreciate your donation and for supporting the arts in high school. The scanners are also allowing students to include scanned in images in their digital artwork, especially when teaching them how to use programs like Photoshop. I hope you enjoy the student scanned artwork that was sent with the letters. Thank you again.”
