  • Help Us Find a Book!

    Funded Jul 30, 2012

My students were thrilled to see our new classroom bookshelf. The bookshelf helps provide a clean and organized environment for students to choose a book. One goal I have for my students is to be able to find their own interest in reading. It is important that children learn how to make a good book selection so they become and stay interested in reading. Now, my students are able to flip through numerous books and make a great selection. My students and I appreciate your donation to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crofford

  • Young Musicians Seeking Instruments...

    Funded Oct 8, 2012

First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to my project. Without your support, this project would not have been possible.

From the moment the supplies arrived, we started taking advantage of them. On a daily bases, the rock stops have been used by my bass and cello students, the shoulder rest by my violin and viola students and the tuners by everyone.

These supplies have tremendously helped bridge the gap and have allowed my students to experience their music through some wonderful instruments, 3 new violins. One of my 6th grade students, 1st year violinist, auditioned and was accepted into our All-City Orchestra. She auditioned on one of the violins that I received through DonorsChoose.

These supplies have gone directly into the hands of my students and have made impact that will be heard for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Grant

  • Listen And Learn

    Funded Aug 3, 2012

Thank you so much for your generosity toward my classroom. The inclusion of a listening library has been invaluable. From the moment I unpacked the resources, my students were eager to dig and and explore new stories.

They have been able to share reading with their classmates in ways that we were not able to previously. My students look forward to being able to plug in to a book and tune out the rest of the world!

The opportunities to hear stories read with such fluency has already impacted their own reading; especially so in my struggling readers. They are anxious to mimic the expression of the story when they reread to a friend after listening.

Thank you again, and I look forward to using these resources for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bechtel

  • Toward 1-to-1 Computing & A Paperless Classroom (Part 1)

    Funded Oct 12, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our class project. The resources that you provided have been very beneficial to my students. So far, students have used the tablets to read many books that I have purchased for them from the Google Play Store. They can't wait until the next time they get to to check one of them out and even take them home.

In addition to the books that students read on the tablets, they have used them for research projects and to do class assignments on Edmodo. The flexibility and mobility that they provide will allow us to use them all over the school building and even outside when we are working on assignments.

Again, I am very appreciative for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Little

  • Current Events Nonfiction Text

    Funded Oct 11, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The subscriptions to TIME for Kids has been helping students learn to read nonfiction text. We use them weekly to teach text features, comprehension, questioning, inferencing, summarizing, and synthesizing. The Time for Kids Magazines are used for all 3rd grade students.

Reading and applying information from nonfiction text has been a weakness for our students on standardized tests. Without your help I would not have been able to provide these essential materials for my students. They have already made huge progress with reading nonfiction text.

Again, thank you for helping support our classroom!!”

    Mrs. Busby

  • The Best of Times: Multiplication Fluency Project

    Funded Jul 13, 2012

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching young children and helping them learn there multiplication facts.

My students have been so motivated by using the timers while they practice their facts. They love to keep track of how many facts they get in a minute and then trying to beat it the next time. This motivation is helping students compete with themselves to get better at their multiplication facts.Your donation will help many young students learn their multiplication facts.

Thank you for helping students master their multiplication facts. I love to see their faces and their pride as they memorize their facts and continue to get better.”

  • Inspiring Students to Become Global Citizens

    Funded May 17, 2012

I am writing this letter to express my sincerest and most heart-felt gratitude for your generous donations to our classroom. The impact you have made on the historic and civic knowledge of my students is immeasurable.

The democratic principle posters proudly displayed on our wall have encouraged students to truly consider the values upon which our country was founded. Not only that, but to also consider which of those values they hold most dear. The "Junior Scholastic" subscription has allowed the students to learn about the most meaningful events that are occurring throughout our nation and around our world. They are fulfilling their social responsibility of staying informed, most particularly concerning our current economic debates and the most recent presidential election. Though the largest impact has been a result of the election kit and simulation book. Because of those particular donations, our students were not only able to learn about how the president is elected, but to experience it for themselves from the primaries to the election day through the formation of their own political parties to the analysis of various types of political media.

My students are now, more than ever, prepared to be contributing and productive citizens of our community, country, and world. We owe a great deal of that to you and your donations. Many thanks from our classroom to you. It is my hope that you will see the fruit of this in the generations to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jordan

  • 30 Days Has September...

    Funded Aug 11, 2012

I sit in awe of my carpet you so graciously provided for our classroom each morning as I prepare for my day. I imagine the laughter the carpet will pad, the noise it will help to muffle, and the learning it will be a part of. I sit on it each afternoon as I reflect from our day of learning. I replay each conversation the children had while sitting on it, relive the amazement the children expressed as they finally grasped a concept they've been struggling with, feel the warm glow of friendship, and the sounds of laughter as the children await the dismissal bell.

The difference the carpet has made in my classroom is one that words can hardly describe. Not only has it brightenend my classroom and given my students a place to work off the floor, but it has provided a meeting place for us to embrace as a classroom community each morning and chart out our day. It has also has provided us a place in the afternoon that we can wrap up our day and review all of the great learning that has taken place. The children absolutely love the carpet and when given a choice, will always choose it as their special place to sit and read by themselves or as a quiet place to finish up their work.

The children love the first school day of each month because they know that we are going to become the calendar days and interactively build the calendar on the carpet. Instantly, they have grasped the concept of days of the week and how to correctly read and understand dates on a calendar. This is a concept that my students usually struggle with!

Thank you hardly expresses my gratitude! It is because of people like you that our children are given the opportunities to continue to achieve the goals they set for themselves, I am lucky enough each day to be the one who gets to see it! I shout from the roof tops how wonderful each of you are! Thank you so very much!”

    Mrs. Webb Walton

  • Clay Making

    Funded Jun 8, 2012

Thank you very much for funding our clay making project. Our elementary students are greatly excited about our having received the six lots of white clay, the very "grown-up" and professional clay making tools, and the bottles of blue glaze.

Students look forward to using these materials to learning the clay techniques of coil, slab and pinch to create a fish and a dragon. Using their hands to manipulate materials is so very essential in the development of motor skills and cognitive abilities.

Thank you for making a positive impact on the lives of our children.”
