  • Making Mathematicians

    Funded Dec 7, 2010

I cannot fully express to you the impact you made on my students lives by supporting my project. The day my project was funded, I gave my students the exciting news. I also, pulled up my project online and showed them the types of games they would be receiving. My class cheered for joy. They were so excited to have a new fun way to learn math.

Perhaps the best parts of this project were the lessons they learned not pertaining to math. I pulled out our classroom map and showed my students where each of you were from. We looked at all of the various states where people lived who donated money to my project. My students were so confused. Because of the type of school that I am in (high poverty) my students are not used to people spending their own money, freely, on them. Their first question was "Why would they waste their money on us? They don't even know us?" This was the perfect segue to a much deeper conversation about how there are people in the world who care about other children's education. Finally, this conversation led to the future- college and scholarships. I explained to my students that although their parents may not be able to afford college, there are people in the world with kind hearts who would help them. This opened a new world of possibilities for my precious students.

Thank you so much for being an example of what their future can hold.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McKillop

  • Seventh Grade Scientists Need Supplies!

    Funded Oct 19, 2010

Please accept this letter as a small symbol of my gratitude for your kind donations. The supplies donated to my classroom have made a large impact for my students. We use the notebooks, white board markers, erasers, rulers and pencil sharpener every day. The students have been able to create truly imaginative science notebooks, thanks in large part to the supplies they now have available to them.

Being a teacher in a low-income area, a lot of my students would not be able to secure these supplies for themselves. It is wonderful to know there are others who would do as much to help my students as I would.

Without donors like you, so many students would go without the essentials they need. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sobosan

  • Science Weekly Reader

    Funded Oct 5, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom here at RCHS. So far, it has been amazing to see my students read the Weekly Readers and learn about all the current events happening in the scientific community. From comments like "Ms. H, what is that?!?" or "Is that really real?!", I can't begin to describe the joy I feel as a result of their interest in the magazines.

The Weekly Readers are being used in several ways. I often print puzzles or worksheets out online that correspond to the articles in an effort to boost literacy in my classroom. Additionally, students must choose one article and summarize it weekly for a current event assignment. In this assignment, they must explain the article so that it is easy for everyone to understand and provide an opinion on the topic of their choice. I post these in the hallway outside my classroom and we enjoy seeing other students stop to read them in the hallways.

Whether it be about healthy eating, dinosaur fossil discoveries, or stars in the galaxy, the impact that the weekly readers has had on my classroom in enormous. I can never say thank you enough. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Heuertz

  • Annual Spring Science Fair Supplies!!!

    Funded Oct 29, 2010

Thank you so much for your generosity! At our school we work hard to empower our students to change the world in which they live now. I am now thrilled to begin our first annual Science Fair this spring because I have these amazing resources to help my students along the way. My students absolutely love science and I know they will be more engaged and able to connect with the content on a more meaningful level because of your support.

Again, thank you for helping my student pursue their passions and connect to the world around them!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher
