  • Mr. A's Trip Around the World in 90 Days

    Funded Sep 14, 2010

I write this letter with the sincerest of gratitude for your donations to my classroom. Since the arrival of the materials the students have been more engaged in the learning process and having more fun learning about the world that they live in. I can already see the immediate impact of these materials on the performance and knowledge of my students. I can not tell you how much your donations have meant to myself, my students, and the educational world in general.

I hope to see continued success from my students with these new resources in their hands and again, thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Allison

  • World News For 3rd Graders

    Funded May 1, 2012

Scholastic News is such a reliable magazine and my students look forward to receiving it. I thoroughly enjoy using the magazine along with my mandated curriculum. Your thoughtful contribution to my proposal is making this possible. Teaching is my passion and I bring everything I can to my classroom. Sometimes I need to reach out and ask for assistance and you helped me out.

Please know that my students are well aware that people are out there helping us learn.

I teach them to appreciate the kindness and try to do better as a thank you to them. From my heart I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you. I am forever grateful that you helped me out. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Karnatski

  • A Niche for Two Netbooks. Nice!

    Funded May 5, 2011

Fantastic! Wow!! You're kidding! No Way!! .... are just a few of the responses I received from my fourth grade students when they were told the two, NEW NETBOOKS had been funded by YOU!! It was like Christmas in our room on that happy day!!

Fast forward a few short months, to an eager new group of fourth graders. They squealed with delight when the netbooks arrived. New to Donors Choose, these students couldn't believe that people who "didn't know us" would be so kind and give such useful gifts! I delighted in telling them all about the Generosity Circle. We will be paying it (your kindness) forward, so to speak, by becoming Book Buddies with a second grade class this year. The gift goes on...and on.

The netbooks are fantastic!! You've doubled the available computers in our classroom. Netbooks are easy to use, and the kids love them. Not only do we use them for research, reading rotations, and writing, but we also use them for Accelerated Reading tests. Such versatile technology!!

Please know how much you have done for my students. As their teacher, I am humbled by your gifts and thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Clickety-Clack, We Need A Train Track!

    Funded Mar 2, 2011

I cannot explain how wonderful this train set has been to my children! They love playing with it daily during our center time. I wish you could see how their faces light up when it is time for them to go to the "train station".

My children have shown such an interest in the trains that we did a mini-unit on trains during our transportation unit. Since then, I have heard them using the vocabulary learned while playing in the train station. I have also noticed the children making complex configurations with the train tracks. The main difference I have seen is in the teamwork and cooperation at this center. My children work together to make "train cities" and they develop stories together about the people on the trains. This is something they would have never experienced without your help!

Thank you. Thank you so much for helping out these children. You will never know how much your contribution has helped our classroom. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McFarland

  • Who Knew Writing Could Be So Complicated?

    Funded May 23, 2011

Thank you for your generosity. I have begun using the mentor writing books with my class and they are not only a great resource but are serving as quite a motivator. After reading the book, Hairy, Scary, Ordinary: A Book About Adjectives to my class, they were clamoring for more. Who knew kids would actually want to read books about parts of speech!

I've also read a few of texts aloud to model various traits of writing. We will be using these texts to inspire creative narratives over the next few months.

Again, thank you for supporting education. The donors on Donors Choose make teachers' ideas become realities that may have otherwise been stifled due to lack of funds.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Augustin

  • Whooo am I?

    Funded Apr 5, 2011

After a long and arduous week of the SAT-10 STandardized test, my students we thrilled when I pulled out the owl pellets and told them they would be Scientists for the rest of the day!

It was the perfect activity to get them relaxed and to unwind from a taught week of testing. The scientists listened to me read from the Owl Pellet resource guide,

We had so much fun being real scientists, and cutting the owl pellets open. It was amazing to see the students pulling out the bones and classifying them according to their shapes and sizes. The most amazing part was I had complete collaboration and cooperation! We learned that owls eat, rats, mice and voles most of all based on the bones we found.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Krause

  • Virtual Learners, Speak to Us!

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

My students and I offer our deepest appreciation for your so generously funding our project to purchase new headsets. I am thrilled to be able to check them out to students, knowing that they are not only reliable headsets, but ones that offer much better quality audio as well. Online students are using them daily, and your donation truly makes a difference in their work. Your concern for the needs of students at our school is gratifying, and we are very thankful to you for acting on that concern. As budgets get tighter, we depend more and more upon our community, and it is comforting to know that we have such dedicated people around us. We truly appreciate your support and wish you the best in the future. ”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Kindergarten Classroom Library

    Funded Mar 2, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. The puzzles, games, magnetic letters, magnetic white boards, and puppet theater are helping my kindergarten students learn every day. My kindergartners are using them to learn the alphabet, to write letters, to tell stories, and to count. They are so excited to use them and are very eager to learn.

Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.

    Thank you again! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baggett

  • Kids And College: Closing The "Test Score" Gap

    Funded May 4, 2011

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my school. The SAT, ACT, and college readiness books have helped our students so much already. Students have been checking them out and they are rarely sitting on the shelf in the counseling center. Students have been using the materials to study for the October SAT and the next ACT.

Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without your help, my students would not have these extremely helpful resources. Just having them provides confidence to students who are anxious about taking such an important test.

Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would not have resources for their students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Ricks

  • Let's Vote!!!

    Funded Dec 17, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to my classroom. Working in a low income area can be challenging, especially when you expect so much out of your students. However, you and your donations have made it possible for me to teach my students about the voting process. Though your large donations you have provided me with the tools necessary to hold a classroom election. Most importantly it was an election that they made, directed and led.

It is people like you who make up the difference in lives of teachers like myself who work in the arena of public education. Thanks so much for the printer, pens and speakers! They are being put to use every day in class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carter
