It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Tables for Teaching

    Funded Feb 2, 2010

Our classroom has flourished since all of your donations. Our new table has increased productivity in our classroom. Now the students have a real place to work (not just a make-shift table made up of several desks). They love the kidney shaped table because they are able to see each person around the table and no one gets left out. I love it because I am quickly able to monitor all students and assist them easily.

You are all such amazing, generous people and I am honored that you chose my project to support. Thank you! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martin

  • Supplies For Social Studies Scholars

    Funded Feb 10, 2010

I wanted to take the time to thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom. Without the help of donors like you, the students in St. Louis would not be nearly as fortunate.

My students and I greatly appreciate the basic supplies you donated to our classroom. These supplies allowed us to end the year on a positive note. We used them to complete several fun and engaging projects. It takes an enormous burden off both me as a teacher and my students, knowing that we did not have to worry about supplies.

Thank you again for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Encalade

  • Comfortable Listening Center

    Funded Feb 25, 2010

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your donation to our classroom. The U.S. rug was such a wonderful enhancement to both the children's reading and social studies comprehension. They absolutely were thrilled to be able to have a comfortable space to settle down and read or do their work.

The headphone that were also part of the donation, were a great hit for the children to be able to have a listening center while others were at different centers. They would read along or laugh at a funny part so loud the rest of us would giggle, too! It gave them the opportunity to get over their fear of reading and actually enjoy reading.

Overall, your generous donation and kindness helped the children to understand that their education is important and that other people care about their futures. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Floth

  • Help Me Capture My Projects on Paper!

    Funded Feb 12, 2010

I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful way that you have enhanced our students classroom experience. They are so excited to use the new printer to print out their various projects. Students stop to show me their homeroom projects and to tell me of how they've taken them home to put their projects on their fridge. The first and second grade students are so appreciative and the homeroom teachers are ecstatic to be able to print out as well. It has made their lives run smoother, especially as they tend to daily business. We are so thankful and appreciate everything you have done to help us purchase these two printers. Please know we will use them with pride knowing there are people like you that care so much about others. Best wishes on your future endeavors.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Benson

  • Ignite Excitement in Content Reading!

    Funded Feb 4, 2010

We are so very thankful for your generous donation towards our "Time for Kids" magazines. Most of the students in our third grade classrooms were performing below grade level at the beginning of the year. After our "End of Grade" tests, many students improved significantly in reading.

The magazines promote reading because they are level-appropriate, colorful, and relevant to our students' lives. Research shows that when reading is real-life, the students succeed!

    THANK YOU KINDLY!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Estabrooks

  • Pencil Sharpener, Paper, Bulletin Boards, Oh My!

    Funded Mar 19, 2010

Thank you so much for donating our new bulletin boards, pencil sharpener and paper. Our district has cut the school budgets drastically. With a split class of 30 students the bulletin boards have been an outstanding resource to help students have consistent reference points to work with during lessons. While I work with my third graders, I use the bulletin boards to have my fourth graders working on activities. On alternating weeks, the third graders use the boards while I work with the fourth graders. Since the boards can be moved around the room, it allows more flexibility for where we work in the classroom. This helps to cut down immensely on distractions that tend to interrupt instructional time.

The pencil sharpener has made such a difference in our classroom! Students no longer have to leave the room in order to sharpen their pencils. Also, the sharpener is quite strong and quick, so it does not cut into instructional time to use.

I have many students with attention issues. Creating graphic organizers from the paper really helps them to stay focused on the topic we are working with. What was once copying words into a vocabulary notebook has now become a hands on activity that helps students to have a valuable study aid when they have the activity completed.

It is donors like you that make it so much easier to acquire the tools necessary to help make our students more successful in and out of the classroom! Thank you so much again! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McCord

  • Reading Buddy MP3

    Funded Jan 29, 2010

I'm not so sure that you know that your generous donation to my classroom project has been a huge success for the academic achievement of my students. The MP3 players and listening centers have been put to excellent use. We've used these tools to help strengthen the reading skills of all of our struggling readers. The MP3 players are helping build their fluency, word recognition, and vocabulary and context clue skills. These devices are currently being used with all students in all grade levels.

The current budget crisis in my school district has hindered our purchase of many needed tools to help our students with their academic needs. Without your help, our students would likely fall further behind. Because of your benevolence, though, we are able to serve our students well, giving them the needed tools to enhance their learning. Already, we have seen more and more students less apprehensive about reading. In fact, they are now highly motivated to read even more resources in our school library.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barnes

  • Accelerating Math Class

    Funded Mar 6, 2010

Thank you, thank you, thank you my amazing donors. With only two more weeks left, the ink and paper you provided in the middle of the second semester will hold us through the rest of the year. My students absolutely love the Accelerated Math program and are downright elated to have the materials necessary to keep the program running. In addition, their teacher is just as elated to see students working hard to become members of the "40 and above club" for mastering 40 or more objectives on the program in one quarter; a task that makes them competitive with the best schools in the district.

In addition to giving my students the capability to do grade level work, your supplies have also helped them learn the skills of self-teaching and instructing others. While students frequently work on the same objectives, the program does not give them the exact same problems. But, as evidenced in the pictures I've posted, this hasn't stopped them from helping each other. I now have a classroom full of very appreciative, independent mathematicians.

Once again, thank you so much for your participation in DonorsChoose and your help in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. French

  • Students Need Ink To Motivate The Thinking

    Funded Jan 26, 2010

I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness in providing such a valuable resource to my students and classroom. With 140 students, it is in their best interest for each of them to have their own worksheet, but copy limits and limited supply of paper have made this difficult.

By providing your donations for my proposal, you have provided my classroom with 2 new cartridges that will allow my students to print projects, create worksheets, and have their own papers for assignments for the rest of the year. I thank you for your thoughtfulness!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crumley

  • Enriching Our Learning in Math, Science and Reading, OH MY!

    Funded Feb 27, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom-- the impact that your contribution, small or large, has had on the students in my class has been tremendous! Undoubtedly, without your generosity, our classroom would not have received our new projector.

We have used the projector for many new activities-- we watch our calendar video, do our morning meeting via PowerPoint, use the interactive math games from our curriculum, and watch videos about science and reading things that we would not otherwise have access to. I have seen absolutely incredible growth in my students in both reading and math since we received our projector.

Without generosity like yours my students would be without a valuable resource, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. H.
