It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache, El Conquistador, by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Musical Instruments for Children with Autism

    Funded Dec 6, 2009

I wanted to thank you for your generous donations toward these instruments. I can not begin to tell you how much the kids have already enjoyed them, as they continue to explore their creativity through music and movement. Many of the instrument that we had were rather old and falling apart, so, since I am in my first year there and have a goal of staying there for many years to come, was hoping that I might be able to have an opportunity to acquire some new instruments that can last for years. Your donation assisted me with achieving that goal and I, as well as my students, are extremely grateful.

I am a professional keyboardist, and also teach a number of students how to play the piano as well, as I am working on slowly having a variety of instruments that I can either teach them how to play, or at least familiarize them with these instruments, so they can be more well-rounded in music and the arts. Because of this, I had another project up and was recently funded as well! I will be getting xylophones, which can teach the students about the keyboard and percussion skills at the same time. I will continue to look for different instruments to introduce them to in the future.

Again, without your support, none of this would have been possible, mainly due to the budget restraints currently going on with schools not only where I am, but across the country, so because of this, I thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sporn

  • In the Spotlight

    Funded Nov 24, 2009

We, The Kirby Middle School Theatre, are so grateful for your contributions. Our students are looking forward to next year when we will begin teaching lighting, for the first time, in Advanced Theatre Arts.

The spotlight was used for an in class play and will be used for a Choir performance at the end of the month. Your gift isn't only impacting our theatre, it is impacting our entire Fine Arts Department.

Our students really like the gobos that came with the spotlight. We are planning on purchasing more for next year. We have had so much fun with the spot light and have even used up our first lamp already.

Again, we are so happy that you have found it in your hearts to donate to our cause. Your gifts have been well received and greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lee

  • Listen to Learn...Learn to Listen! #2

    Funded Nov 24, 2009

I have watched my students excel in the area of reading in leaps and bounds. A large part of their success is because of resources like the Phonics Read Along Kit that you supported. The use of those listening station materials has helped my students become skillful in the areas of blending, letter sound correspondence and fluency.

Thanks to you I hear, "Look Ms. Pearson, I can read this," or "I know what sound that letter makes!" My kids are so thrilled that they can now read. Many of them entered the grade on kindergarten level and some of those same children are now approaching 2nd grade reading levels. They have grown tremendously in the area of literacy.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pearson

  • We Want to Rock Our School!

    Funded Dec 17, 2009

I want to take this opportunity to inform you how gratefully my students are for the instruments they received from you.

For my students music practice has become an incentive for their achievements here at my School. It is amazing the effect Little Kids Rock has over my students and the positiveness it feeds them with.

Music is just like another subject for my students because of the responsibility and care they devote to the class. The diligence with which they take care of their instruments and materials for the class is particularly amazing.

Once again I want to greatly thank this organization for the donation of 5 guitars that will help me make a difference in children's' lives. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rivera

  • Can You Hear Us Out There?

    Funded Dec 31, 2009

Our Arts Festival performances is coming up!  My students have been working very hard for the past 5 weeks to put the show together. They are excited and nervous.

The wireless mics will be used by the four lead actors. Ironically, the mics have given the students the confidence to speak up. It is amazing!  I'm certain the audience will not have a problem hearing them this time around. Again, I would like to thank you for your donation.&nbsp”

  • Singing And Dancing While We Learn

    Funded Jan 12, 2010

Thank you so much for the music materials. We have used the song bank and cd player every single day. My students love to pick out the picture of the song they want to sing. The students have learned to bring the pictures to an adult and request assistance to play their favorite songs. One of my students learned to sit for a structured activity during music activities using the song back materials.

Our classroom budget is very limited. Without you donation we would not have these materials to use with the children. I really appreciate your generous nature. I cannot thank you enough for donating to our class. You have made a difference in the life of a child. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

  • Creating Mathematicians

    Funded Dec 7, 2009

I can't even begin to tell you how excited my students were when I told them that we would be receiving the items to enhance our math lessons thanks to you generosity. That excitement doesn't compare to the pleasure and excitement in their faces when I take the materials out for them to work with. They work harder during other activities so that we can have extra time to use our new materials. They are eager to learn and are learning while having fun.

They have even learned some responsibility and respect from having these new materials in the class. They monitor each other to see that proper care is taken when working with our new items. Your giving heart is seen in each of my students as they learn while having fun. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Menard

  • We Will Rock You!

    Funded Dec 21, 2009

Thank you for providing the resources necessary for my students to fulfill their dreams of becoming rockstars. Due to the current economic situation, music education is becoming harder to fund. Thanks to your generous donations, my students recognize that their talent has value.

I am especially appreciative of the confidence boost you have given to my fifth grade students. They are closely approaching graduation and the big move to middle school. Many of them are now signed up for band, orchestra, guitar, piano, and choir at local middle schools in my area.

Our big project for the end of the year was to write a new school song using our guitars, drum kit, and keyboard. Each class wrote a verse, and it will be premiered to the school at graduation on May 26. This would not have been possible without donors like you. Thank you for keeping the music alive in my students.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

  • O Sifuni Mungu

    Funded Nov 15, 2009

We would like to truly thank you for your generous donations to our school. Because of your support and kindness, we were able to obtain African Drums to use in our classroom.

It is something the kids love using and it really motivates and encourages them to exceed in the classroom. Each day the kids come to class looking forward to learning new drumming techniques and new songs to perform.

In addition, it has become a great addition to our schools morale and feeling.

Once again, thank you so much, without your generous gift, we would not have been given this wonderful experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Farrell

  • Read and Return

    Funded Dec 11, 2009

I have now been giving books to the parents at my school for the last several months. The parents have expressed to me how grateful they are to have this resource. I give the parent a book that they read with their children When they have fully enjoyed the book, they return the book to me to be used by another family.

What makes this so nice for the parents is the ease in accessing the books. I am on a first name basis with many of the parents at the school, and they simply step into my office take a book and leave. With many of them having very busy schedules and/or young children, this saves them the time from going elsewhere for a book. It helps that my office is conveniently located off of the main lobby.

This year, I focused on reading books for students. Next year, I would like to focus on books that will help parents to help their children succeed in school.

Again thank you so much for the wonderful gift you have given to the parents of my school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Swann
