  • Military Students - Digital Storytelling

    Funded May 21, 2009

Thank you for your generous donations. The digital camera is being used to take pictures for a digital story telling project about our school. The camera allows students to use their creativity when capturing pictures to tell a story.

When the project is complete, students will be able to share the project with their peers, teachers, and family members to include deployed parents. Students are excited about the project and are looking forward to creating other projects in the future! Thank you again for your support. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Szymeczek

  • Marvelous Meteorologists

    Funded Apr 10, 2009

Thank you so much for the funds to purchase a weather kit. I am able to allow my 4th grade students the opportunity to make weather instruments such as anemometers, barometers, wind vanes, and the use of thermometers. The students also have had the opportunity to "see" air pressure and how it effects the weather. 4 graders have made clouds and "rain" in the classroom because of your generous donation. Thank you for your support. I will be able to use this kit for many years to come. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crocker

  • There's No Place Like Home

    Funded May 25, 2009

Again, I am humbled by your generosity! Our students have really enjoyed working with the iPods and learning how to create podcasts. These military students are not only dealing with every day school life, but also with the absence of a parent or family member in their life, as well as the constant concern for safety. Providing this technology has given our military students the opportunity to stay in contact with their loved ones and share their daily school life. Your donation is truly appreciated. I am very happy that our guidance counselor has come on board to assist with the implementation of this project and we are excited to be able to extend this project to more of our students in the next school year. This project was a whole new experience for our students and I am grateful for your support.

    Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Knapp

  • Read to Me

    Funded May 23, 2009

My class and I are very grateful for the donations you made to help our class receive materials for learning. My class adores the listening station. You made this possible through your kindness and your generosity. They are able to listen to books being read on cassettes and CD that I have collected. After listening to the books they write a book report.

Our class visits literacy stations on a daily basis. The listening station has become a favorite. Students enjoy hearing books being read to them and this also helps them to become great readers. Once again thank you.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Joines

  • Smile for Meaningful Reading and Writing!

    Funded Oct 7, 2009

Wow - I am so humbled by your generosity! My students are already benefiting from these materials in my classroom. They love to make their own non-fiction books about real pictures they take with our wonderful camera that you so kindly provided for us.

The projects we are able to do are so meaningful to my students! Their love for reading and writing is growing each day and I know they are learning a great deal about technology as well. The skills they are developing now will stay with them for a lifetime and that is so rewarding to see.

Again, your kindness means so much to me!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ash

  • Help Us, Help Others!

    Funded May 21, 2009

Thank you for your generous donations. Students in my classroom have been busy using the supplies purchased with this project. They have created cards, place mats, and quilt pieces that have been or will be shared with veterans at our local veterans hospital.

We are planning for our second visit to the hospital. The smiles on the veterans' faces are priceless when they receive something from one of our students. Those smiles make the students feel more comfortable and more willing to start a conversation.

On behalf of my students and the veterans, thank you for your contribution. You are honoring many veterans with your support and teaching students an important lesson about community service.”

    With gratitude,

  • Bridging Music and Mathematics

    Funded Nov 24, 2009

Thank you for your donation to bring music into my classroom. Our school does not have the resources to provide a music or band teacher which puts many low-income students at a disadvantage. In our classroom, students have learned to read and play music, as well as understand the mathematical concepts behind composing music.

Everyday students are eager to show a new song they learned or play duets for the class. Your generosity has really impacted the educational experience for my students and I truly appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Deacon

  • All Children Love To Make Learning FUN!

    Funded May 22, 2009

Wow! What a difference a game makes. Students get bored with the day-to-day traditional curriculum. These learning games help my students to stay motivated and engaged! They are very competitive, which makes them want to do well at the game. In turn, they are truly learning to refine learned language arts skills.

On Fridays, my students often earn "fun" time. This is the perfect addition to this time so that I don't feel as though we are wasting valuable instruction time, but they feel they are being rewarded. I have also been able to share these games with other students in the school, so this has made an impact well beyond the wall of my classroom.

These games are priceless. They will be used for many years to come. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity! From our classroom to all of you, THANK YOU!!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wilkerson

  • Classroom Aides

    Funded Aug 19, 2009

Thank you so much for all your donations. You have really helped my students and I this year. I cannot tell you how many times our "school" copiers have been in repair, yet I had a convenient one in my room to get me through the day. The students have really enjoyed it as well. I have been able to create more "fill in the blank" note taking sheets for them. They can listen and just fill in words here or there instead of having to write everything I say. I also am able to copy papers in a larger font for students with disabilities. The kids don't have to strain to see what is written on the papers either. I am so glad that there are people who care about the future of education. Again, thank you so much for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Batten

  • TAG - You're it! Start Reading!

    Funded May 26, 2009

Wow, the TAG books have added so much exploration to our room! Thank you very much for supporting us on our road to becoming better readers. The kids enjoy the TAG books very much. Reading has become interactive, engaging, and motivating. As a fellow teacher, you know how difficult it can be to get students who have struggled with reading to get lost in a book. That is not a problem now that we have TAG books in our classroom! The students clamor over them! We have even created a rotation schedule for the readers. The technology has helped my students become more independent in the regular education classroom as well. The kids will bring them back to class and use the pens throughout the day!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping a very special group of students! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H-T
