    Hello, again, and Happy New Year! Though the holiday decorations have already been packed and stored, we were recently greeted by two huge boxes and thrilled to discover that they were full of clean, colorful, unscathed, hula hoops. Thank you so much for all this abundance! Of course, everyone was delighted and begged immediately for recess.

    When recess finally did arrive, we took our new hoops to the blacktop so they could show me their moves. I also had a few "moves" in mind when I directed them to put their hoops on the ground. Then I asked them in relationship to their hoops to leap over, crawl under, run around, slide through, jump left, hop right, walk in, tiptoe out, and even to go north and south. Second language learners especially benefited from demonstrating directional awareness in such a fun, energetic way, and I was happy to see their bodies in motion after a morning of reading assessments, spelling and math tests. I hope the pictures convey their delight.

  • "Hungering" For MORE!

    Thank you for this AMAZING donation! My students think this book is interesting, because of its unpredictability and excitement. They are anxious to read it each day and find out what will happen next. You certainly have fulfilled my wish of having a novel for them to read that they would immerse themselves in. For that I am truly grateful.

    The students, along with reading the story, are gaining a valuable skill set necessary to their future success as readers and writers. They are responding to the literature, analyzing the characters, and evaluating the plot. This book offers them the opportunity to REALLY look at literature from the perspective of a true reader.

    The conversations we have had surrounding the book have been enlightening and engaging. You have done this for my students and they will remember reading this novel--I'm sure of it!

  • Help! My Readers Have Devoured All My Books!

    I can't begin to express my gratitude for your generous donations to my classroom. The books you help donate will enable my students to read

    twenty six A to Z Mysteries books, twenty eight Henry and Mudge books, and twenty nine Junie B. Jones books. That is 83 books the students will be able to read at home and in the classroom. These wonderful chapter books will provide my students with countless opportunities to enjoy literature.

    Our school is currently facing a budget problem, so they were unable to purchase materials to supplement the reading program. The students want to become stronger fluent readers and I need help doing this. With your donation, I will be able to share the richness of literature. My students will not say "We need books!" We have ensured they have books to read and enjoy. They will continue to love to read! Thank you! ”
