  • Learning to Become Good Citizens

    Funded Sep 7, 2006

On behalf of my students I want to thank you for helping them to understand what it means to be a citizen of the United States of America. Your generous contribution will touch these kids for the rest of their lives. Our trip to Washington, D.C. and colonial Williamsburg, Va. is scheduled for Nov. 25 - Dec. 2. You'll hear from the kids immediately upon their return home. This is an exciting opportunity for the students and, I believe, an exciting way that you have chosen to reinforce the Founders desires to "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." Again, thank you so much.

  • Classroom Library part 1

    Funded Sep 6, 2006

Thank you so much for funding a library of our own. We really like to read in our class. This was a wonderful surprise for us. Thank you again! and again! The opportunity of having more books to read will help us be better in writing, also. Another reason we all are excited about this great news is that we can "beat" other 2nd graders at our school in book report writing. Thank you very much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Supporting Independent Reading in the 9th Grade, Part 1

    Funded Aug 24, 2006

Thank you so much for funding my proposal! After receiving the good news today, I am eager to let you know how much these books will be appreciated by me and by my students. School begins in just a little over a week. I am thrilled to know that within a few weeks I will have some new books to add to my classroom library. My students will fall over each other to get at them!

Independent reading is an essential factor in boosting adolescent literacy; your donation of independent reading materials is essential to maintaining the viability of independent reading at my school.

    Thanking you in advance,

    Marjory ”

  • Enhancing Comprehension

    Funded Aug 24, 2006

Thank you for your gift to our classroom. I have found that when given the right books, students become excited about reading and see it as an enjoyable activity instead of a tedious task. Thanks to your contribution, my students will now have many engaging novels to choose from. Also, because these books are written at a variety of reading levels I can reach all of my students, whether they are at a low or high level. Thanks again for this amazing gift!

  • Wacky Weather

    Funded Aug 24, 2006

Thank you so much for funding the science show, "The Perfect Storm". This is a wonderful traveling science show created by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. The show will be in the New York area in the winter months. As soon as I get back to school I will schedule a performance. I will try to get it as early as possible but I need to work around the Institute’s touring schedule. We look forward to sharing pictures and notes with you in the early spring.

I want to thank you sincerely for your generosity. You are giving approximately 250 students in my school an opportunity to see a wonderful science show in the comfort of their own school.

  • But this is MATH?! Why are we READING?!

    Funded Jul 7, 2006

Thank you so much for your donation of math materials! My students always struggle at the beginning of the year with third grade skills. The books and games you have given us will be so helpful in boosting their self-esteem and allow them to learn in a variety of ways.

I cannot wait to introduce my students to all the new math stuff! Thank you so much again for your generosity”

  • "Science on the Go!" - part II

    Funded Jun 30, 2006

Let me start off by saying a huge THANK YOU! It was extremely generous of you to make this donation for the students in my classroom. Second graders love science, especially engaging and interactive lessons and experiments. But because of the low income level of my students' families, many of my students have not gotten to learn about Science outside of the classroom. And because of budget cutbacks, our school did not have funding for a Science Program. Because of your donation, "Science on the Go" in our classroom will allow them these opportunities. It is a reputable program that allows success and enjoyment for each student. It will give them hands-on science experience that will not be forgotten and expose them to new ideas in which a future interest may develop. When we return to school in the fall, we will be able to delve deep into our very exciting science program. Again, thank you so much for this opportunity for both me and my students.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Megan ”
