  • 3rd Grade in the Zone

    Funded Oct 11, 2012

The privacy partitions that you so generously funded for my classroom last year turned out to be a huge success. Students loved being able to create their own private work environment, without ever leaving their desk. Of course, students used the partitions while taking assessments, but many students chose to put their partition up during daily independent work time, simply because they were better able to focus. In addition, many students took advantage of the "walls" of their partitions to post process charts, class notes, and reminders. These quick references not only cut down on repetitive questions, they also helped to ingrain concepts in students' minds because they were always only a glance away. Thank you once again for bringing this basic supply to my students. It truly made an impact on they way we learn!”

Happy New Year to you all! Thank you once again for so generously supporting our students, our school, ...and our mustaches! Our Mustaches for Kids fundraising campaign was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without each of you. I am particularly excited about being able to use these digital presenters. My technology students will find 101 uses for them in our news broadcasts. From highlighting important people to pointing out different parts of the city during our weather segment, the laser pointers will help our audience to focus and our students to feel more professional. Thank you for your support and encouragement! ”

  • Even Young Scientists Need Science Tools

    Funded Oct 15, 2012

We are just beginning our unit on life cycles, and the student are very excited. Over the weekend, the students' bean seeds have sprouted. They will be able to measure them and create line plots. They will also be learning about the life cycle of a plant.

Following our unit on plants, we will study the life cycles of animals, including a butterfly. Our caterpillar are due to arrive any day now, and your generous donation is what provided us with the larva and homes for them to live in.

After our studies, we will be creating habitats that include both plants and animals that are native to a certain area. The students will be able to use all of the great craft supplies, including construction paper, foam, paint, and clay to capture their ideas in their own design of a habitat.

Thank you for your generosity. Your donation is very appreciated, and it is having a direct impact on student learning.”

  • Tag! You're It.

    Funded Oct 25, 2012

Happy New Year everyone, and thank you once again for supporting our students and our school! The six LeapFrog TAG readers that you generously provided have been a huge hit in the third grade. Students can use the LeapFrog pens to read special books - many of which you provided as well! - and get feedback while they read. For example, students get support with new vocabulary and sequencing different events in the story. This is particularly hopeful with our ESOL population! As you can imagine, students line up to read with the TAG readers during independent work time. Thank you all for making this project a reality for our classroom.”

  • Help Us Show Off Our Work!

    Funded Dec 13, 2011

Thank you all for generously providing a photo printer for our school! There are so many positive things happening in our school community: interactive classroom lessons, athletic events, academic competitions, band and choir concerts, art projects, science fairs... The list goes on and on. A photo printer will help us to document and display all of those fantastic events. It's easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day minutia of a school, and forget about all of the positive things that are happening. Constantly rotating photo displays will be a great reminder to our entire school community about all of the accomplishments we have to be proud of. Thank you all for your support!”
