Yes! Dramatic Play Is Back, In Transitional Kindergarten
My students need props for role-playing family members and community workers. We have a great Transitional Kindergarten program that integrates many standards.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
2012 is the first year of TK in California. We have been creating a fabulous curriculum that integrates the CCSS, including Theater, Art, Dance and Music. In short, my students will learn how to build a city out of blocks and role play people. Please help us acquire some of the props that we need.
All 33 of my students will turn five in November.
They are very curious and highly engaged in activities that are hands-on and meaningful to them. My young students need to act out, interact with each other, use their senses, sing, and learn in a playful way. These activities will prepare them for Traditional Kindergarten and beyond.
My Project
Since this is the first year of this new program we need help providing hands-on props for role playing community workers that engage my students in their pretend roles and help up create the community setting. As a result of participating in building a city and role-playing activities, my students are learning real life skills. These skills include working as a team, communication skills, following a building plan, math skills, reading skills, journaling skills, developing academic vocabulary, learning about the community, the roles of different people and how to act out different jobs.
This school year is so unique because we are creating Transitional Kindergarten and implementing the Common Core State Standards.
Help us make this year even better by helping us acquire the hands-on props that are necessary to build our program. The results are going to be amazing. Kids who have fall birthdays will now be at the top of the class as a result of their experience in TK, and all kids will have essential real-life skills as a result of the CCSS.
