My students are the light of my life. Every day is a new adventure, and every day not only do I teach them something new, but they teach me something as well.
I pride myself in providing opportunities to participate in class and for students to take ownership of their work.
One way in which I do this is by giving each student an interactive journal. Students get a composition notebook at the beginning of the year that they put (tape) all their work into, so that by the end of the year, they have a complete study guide that they made themself. A lot of my students are unable to get these composition notebooks, so I spend a lot of my own money on composition notebooks for them. I also buy a lot of tape so they can attach their work in their notebook. We go through that like no one's business!
Additionally, my students love using white boards to participate in class. Using them for Jeopardy or formative assessments is a great way to get participation, but I don't have enough for all of my students. I have a lot more students this year than last, and the 25 count I got last year is now running short. These whiteboards will help me close the gap so that all my students can participate in class.
