I am a Speech Language Pathologist providing speech and language therapy/communication intervention across both inclusion and self-contained settings. My students are striving to learn to express themselves effectively in the classroom so that they can effectively access the curriculum. My students are extraordinary individuals who choose to overcome challenges and adversity every time they come into the classroom. Through close collaboration with my students' team of classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents, we promote speech and language growth to help our future leaders of tomorrow succeed in both their personal and academic goals.
For some students, their speech therapy sessions are the only part of their day when someone truly understands them.
This year we have a vacant position on our campus, meaning I have to be able to plan quickly, develop easily portable lessons, and move rapidly around campus to service 2 SLPs' worth of students. I have had the opportunity to meet so many students this year while working through our staffing challenges and have been finding new strategies to maximize every moment I have on campus with our children. The requested quick take-along resources, auditory memory scenes and hidden pictures for vocabulary are perfect to grab and use for this situation. They are small but pack a punch when it comes to quality and skills addressed. Maximizing my time is so important this year and I thank you for your support to help me make an impact on our campus.
