Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Children do not just learn to naturally self-regulate their emotions. They first start with someone helping them which then leaders to co-regulation and finally self-regulation. Being able to regulate oneself means to be able to control your own emotions and behaviors. This school year I want to help my students learn a wide variety of techniques for when their engine is running too slow or too fast!

When you are dis-regulated, your ability to learn is lessened.

Everyone feels tired, sad, over excited, anxious, and no one feeling is better than the other. My goal is to help my students understand their feelings and emotions, and how to help get themselves to a place where they are ready to learn.

Sour and spicy food items can help us become more alert where sweet things can be calming. Velcro dots can help us become more alert and fidget with something quite under our desks. All of these items will help this classroom learn self-regulation techniques!
