This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are amazing. I feel like I find myself bragging on them any opportunity I get. I find myself here over the summer thinking about all of the ways I can make next year as amazing as they are. Often, my kids come to school and they get not only an education, but love, guidance and of course, snacks.
They are resilient, funny, loving and hard working, however, like any teenagers, they can also be procrastinators and goof balls.
Every year, we set up a prize store where students can earn tickets in order to "purchase' items. This year, I thought some fun lanyards would be nice, since students have to wear IDs with their uniforms. Also, bracelets with inspirational phrases to uplift students will be motivating as students try to collect them. Then, OF COURSE, candy and chips, because teenagers eat endlessly. In the past, having incentives students could work towards has been great. Students learn the power of delayed gratification and money management all while working towards something.
