Help me give my students a student book study library forming small groups during independent reading time to cultivate meaningful conversation amongst their peers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I notice that my students in the past don't understand or appreciate the gift of a good book. I will admit I wasn't a student that liked to read either. But I've always loved to watch a good movie and discuss it with my friends later. The first time I read a book and then saw the movie, I really learned how to appreciate the imagination that a book gives you. Or just reading a book that wasn't portrayed on the screen later. The book's version allowed my imagination to grow. The characters were the way I imagined them. Places in the books had my own imaginary touch to them. The book's version is always better than the movie. These books will also be used during our Independent Reading time (Stop Drop and Read) and helping students meet their 25 chapter books annual goal.
