As a school counselor I serve over 500 elementary students. My function is to foster their self discovery through social and emotional wellness presentations, activities and personal support. I help students with different learning styles, socioeconomic status and cultural backgrounds with their problem solving, educational success and life decisions. I encourage each of them to make more conscientious choices that create a positive, unified and respectful school environment. All children deserve to learn in a safe, supportive and dynamic environment. My goal is to unleash each child's full potential.
My Project
As we all know books are the cornerstone of much learning. As a new counselor I need to build a library that I can utilize on a daily basis to connect with and teach my kids. These books would help me convey important ideas during everything from classroom wide guidance lessons to individualized one-on-one sessions.
Social and emotional learning helps students learn how to identify and manage their emotions, relate to others, show empathy, make good decisions, and set and achieve goals.
These books will make a different in each of these children's lives.
Many of these books will help students with issues such as bullying or building self-confidence.
