This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy. I work at a Title I middle school as am instructional coach. I have the privilege to support teachers with designing lessons to meet the needs of their students. I model effective instructional strategies for teachers and I work closely with teachers to use formative assessment to drive instruction.
My school is one that is diverse in learning styles, cultures, and interest.
Many of our students come from military families and their experiences are often brought into the classroom. More than 50 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-priced lunch.
My Project
As an instructional coach, I support teachers in my school with professional learning experiences based on their individual needs. The requested books: will help me stay abreast with best practices for supporting students with trauma, differentiating instruction to meet diverse needs, as well as ways to use formative assessment to drive instruction, and understand how to develop lessons that infuse brain based strategies using their new found knowledge of neuroscience.
I plan on creating an resource library that teachers can use to develop their instructional skills and craft with teaching.
This project will empower teachers to achieve excellence in learning so that every student can succeed.
