This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are kind, caring, and creative children. They range from 4-8 years old with Autism who have difficulty coping and regulating their emotions due to their disabilities. My students need sensory tools to be able to concentrate, participate, and actively learn in and out of the classroom. However, they require alternative learning tools and materials due to their special learning needs.
My students need a variety of sensory integration, hands on materials and seating option to help them concentrate, learn and develop in and out of the classroom.
My Project
Many of my students have difficulty coping and regulating their emotions due to their disabilities. Tools such as fidget toys, chewing toys and fine motor toys would be beneficial to my students with Autism. Jellyfish chair will help my students sit and engage with materials that may otherwise be too challenging or sensory over-stimulating. Chewy jewelry, dinosaur stress relief toys, and sensory OT brush will also allow my students to self-sooth and regulate their emotions. Pencil grips and half size pencils will also help them with their handwriting and cutting skills. Many of my students have difficulty coping and regulating their emotions due to their disabilities.
