Getting Kids Involved in Their Learning!

Help me give my students 11 LCD writing tablets to make it easy and fun for all students to participate in lessons.

My Students

I work at a low income school where the students have very few opportunities to work with technology. This becomes a problem when the kids must take high stakes tests on a computer. I would like to provide my little ones with every oppurtunity while they are with me during the day to have experiences that most kids have in time. Students learn with practice and I believe a fun way to do this is through educational apps. My students are all mainly on free or reduced-price lunch and have few opportunities and experiences outside of school with technology.

I want to make sure to use technology in the classroom as a way to build foundational skills for my students.

The kids that I work with have mostly not gone to preschool and are behind in almost all areas of their education. We are a high needs school and I want to make sure to give my students every opportunity to succeed!

My Project

Having individual LCD writing tablets will help motivate my students and will definitely shorten the amount of time I wait for a copy machine, or pass out individual white boards, markers, and erasers, not to mention the number of dry erase markers I go through each year! The writing tablets will be used daily throughout multiple subject area lessons. They will be used for students to work out math problems while on the carpet, and answer questions during classroom discussions. They will be used to practice handwriting and sight words as well. The students can write down questions they have or unknown words during our read alouds to ask about after the story, or to answer quick questions throughout stories. These writing tablets can be used in all subject areas in our classroom. It also give an easy way to quickly assess each student. It will also allow my students to reflect, record, and compute in all subject areas!

I want my students to be excited to learn and want to participate in all of our lessons.

It has become difficult to keep the lessons fun and engaging while also collecting the data I am required to during each lesson. These will definitely make it a lot easier to manage collecting data while also letting the students be creative.
