My Students

I teach in a southwest suburban school about 40 minutes outside Chicago. Over just the past 4 years, our percentage of low-income students has risen 12%. Each year we are seeing an increased number of students coming to school without the supplies they need to succeed. But this only helps me remember what I am put here to do - give my students everything they need to succeed.

Our school is growing with new learners each and every year.

We are seeing more and more students of varying ability levels enter our school doors. It is our job as educators to make sure that we have the very best instructional materials possible so that each and every lesson helps our students grow and learn!

My Project

Students love when I tell them that it's time to bring out their dry erase boards. Somehow it adds excitement and change to doing regular math problems or practicing our cursive handwriting. But over time, dry erase markers dry up or get lost. Erasers are misplaced. So, imagine the enthusiasm when I show them LCD writing tablets! Can you just hear the exhilarated gasps?! Many students have never seen these before so I can only imagine the thrill!

Everybody (including students) fall into dreaded routines and monotony.

This simple tool can help students feel psyched up about learning again! I can hearing them asking, begging to practice math problems on the LCD writing tablets! And that would be music to my ears!
