I have 16 beautiful children that want to learn in my second grade classroom. I want to create a positive learning environment that will allow my students to feel comfortable, safe and engaged - something all students deserve.
This is my second year teaching in Sarasota, Florida therefore my classroom needs some additional resources to help my students excel.
My students love technology. They enjoy working with the active board and on the computer. By integrating technology into the classroom, I am able to change the way I teach and I can also provide my students with tools that will take them into the 21st century.
My Project
Without a strong grasp of the mechanic of writing, getting ideas down on paper will be difficult for young writers. It is important to teach and allow for practice of skills such as handwriting or word processing.
The word work activity requested would help teach my students to become fluent with handwriting, spelling, and sentence construction.
Research has shown that if students don't make an attempt to learn the skill of writing at a young age, they will face difficulties in mastering the skill when they are older. Moreover, writing also facilitates a person to think better.
With the help of donors, the magnetic sentence strip pockets and sequence and write story tiles would be placed in a writing center where my students can strengthen writing skills which will lead to developing reading skills. My writing center will allow students to practice letter formation, sentence construction, creative writing, and more.
All of the materials requested will help students become confident writers and better writers over time!
