A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This is my first year teaching and I want my students to have the opportunity to work with technology beyond just doing work on a laptop. I want them to experience what it means to code, what it means to build and create technology and that anyone can do it!
I want to create a classroom environment that is conducive to risk taking, critical thinking, community, and perseverance.
Everything that our students interact with involves some type of technology or coding- T.V. Remote, phones, watches, video games, etc. And our technology is only going to advance from there. So why not prepare them for their future? My students are inquisitive and love to be challenged. They work hard and they are creative thinkers. They are valiant in the face of new technology and excited for the new challenge!
My Project
I was at a training over the summer and I was introduced to Dash-Bot. We had to opportunity to work with it. Immediately, I could see the different ways that I could incorporate this into my classroom. The program has different apps that allow that students to work on various aspects of coding and progress to harder and harder challenges. The great thing about it was that you didn't realize you were learning coding, it felt like playing a game!
Coding teachings so many skills that can transfer to different subject areas in the classroom and into day to day life- Critical thinking, problem-solving, perseverance, risk-taking, creativity, and determination.
