This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a teacher in an extremely diverse and unique city, my students come from extremely diverse and unique backgrounds. In this, they enter my classroom with a variety of needs and strengths. My hope is to provide for them a quality and holistic education, regardless of their background or circumstances. I strive to create the most effective lessons inside a safe environment that fosters their academic, social, and emotional needs.
My students are empathetic, loving, curious, and creative second graders.
We are a new charter school in our second year, so my students are the leaders of our school! I try to always provide opportunities for exciting and engaging lessons that allow my students to explore their own learning.
My students are in need of some warm clothing supplies, especially jackets. At times students come to class unprepared for the cold weather. They come in t-shirts and short sleeved tops when the weather is cold, and the inside of our classroom is even colder!
They are so cold that they are putting their arms into their t-shirts (stretching it out) to keep themselves warm.
When our classroom is cold, the students cannot concentrate on the lesson at hand. With these hoodies they will be warm and therefore can pay attention in class instead of shivering! Furthermore, when winter comes they will be ready for the colder weather.
